TORRES -- George J. Torres Sr., 91, died prayerfully on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, Wednesday, December 28, 2005. A Rosary will be prayed at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (Lomas at Tennessee, NE) at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2005. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery (Edith Blvd. NE). Mr. Torres, a native of Albuquerque, worked in the shipyards in San Pedro, CA, during WWII. After the war he returned to Albuquerque to work at Sandia National Laboratories from where he retired in 1973. Mr. Torres was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Alice Skinner Torres. He is survived by six children: Carole (Bud) Silloway, George Jr. (Loretta), Frank (Arcie), Irene (Mohamed) El-Genk, Christine (Donald) Gonzales, and Ray (Mary); 12 grandchildren: Chuck, Steve, and Glen (Silloway), Georgina Polson, Dan Torres, Tammara Torres, Laureen Kramer, Frank Torres, Jr., Catherine Schwartz, Hussein El-Genk, Sarah and Christopher Torres; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Isabelle Carrasco, Carmen Lewis, Margaret Gonzales, and Katherine Soto; and six nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vistacare who assisted Mr. Torres several weeks preceding his death or to your favorite charity.
