BROWN -- Winifred Valentine Brown, 85, died peacefully Monday, November 21, 2005, at Lovelace Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Brown, sons, Donald Jr. and Timothy, daughter-in-law Christina, grandson Thomas, and a wonderful loving family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Winifred was born on February 14, 1920, in Clearmont, MO. She was the middle daughter of three children born to Perry and Ada Holbrook. Winifred received her R.N. from Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, MO. She became 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp., and helped to establish a hospital in Normandy, France. Winifred and Donald raised their 3 sons in Ames, IA, where she was an active member in her church circle and passionately involved in the Iowa State University student blood drives for the American Red Cross. In 1994, Winifred and Donald moved to Albuquerque to be closer to Timothy, Christina and Thomas, and also Donald Jr. at Lake Tahoe. Winifred will be remembered by all for her gentle and gracious kindness, her beautiful smile and lilting laughter, and the love she gave to her family and friends. A Memorial Service followed by lunch will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Mesa View United Methodist Church, 4701 Montano Rd. NW. At a future date, interment of cremains beside her son, Jeffery, will take place at Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the Winifred V. Brown Memorial Fund, Mesa View United Methodist Church, 4701 Montano Rd.
