ABERNATHY -- Jean Abernathy, 75, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, November 24, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy D. Simmons and husband, Philip of St. George, VT, and Becky Martinez and husband, Patrick of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kristin Simmons and Timothy Simmons both of St. George VT, Jacob Hebl, Matthew Martinez, Rachael Hebl, Hannah Martinez, and Sarai Martinez, all of Albuquerque; sister, Mary Jo Regan of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Abernathy. Mrs. Abernathy worked for many years as an Insurance Agent for AAA. She was a former member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment of cremated remains will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. BABB -- Dorothy Louise Babb (nee Williams) died on Friday, November 25, 2005, in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton, and grandson, Russell. Dorothy is survived by her son, William of Tucson; daughter, Marilyn Boyd of Placitas; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Richard C. Williams of Boulder, CO. Dorothy was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on December 20, 1916, the fourth child and second daughter of Oliver Morton Williams and Myrtle Wheeler Williams. Early in her childhood the family moved from Coffeyville to Colorado Springs, CO, having had their home severely damaged by a tornado. Dorothy attended Colorado College, where she met Newton Hutsell Babb. They were married on December 20, 1940, which was Dorothy's 24th birthday and also Newton's 27th birthday. During 1943 and most of 1944, Dorothy accompanied Newton to Navy training schools in Traverse City, Michigan, Stillwater, Oklahoma and Corpus Christi, Texas. When Newton was sent overseas late in 1944, Dorothy returned to Colorado Springs with son, William (Bill). Their daughter, Marilyn, was born while Newton was stationed on Guam working on aircraft radars and radios. Newton was discharged from the Navy late in October 1945 and returned to his family in Colorado Springs and to his job with the Colorado Interstate Gas Company. After raising their children in Colorado Springs, Dorothy and Newton eventually decided to retire in southern California, where they purchased a home in Seal Beach Leisure World. Dorothy lived in the Leisure World home for thirty-three years. Newton died in 1987, after suffering the last of his several heart attacks at the age of 73. Dorothy continued her active life, singing in the church choir, and actively participating in the garden club until she began to suffer from congestive heart failure late in 2003 and early in 2004. In April of 2004, Dorothy sold her home in Leisure World and moved to Sunrise of Albuquerque where her daughter, Marilyn, could oversee her care at the assisted living facility. BACA MIERA -- Dell, died peacefully in her sleep on Thanksgiving Day surrounded by her loving Family. Dell was born in Reserve New Mexico January 21, 1915. She was the Daughter of the late Filimon Baca and Margaret Romero Baca. She is survived by her sister, Josina Baca Chimenti of Albuquerque; her daughter Loretta Miera Huenefeld (LeRoy); her cherished granddaughters, Jamie and Kristi Huenefeld; cousins, Bart Chimenti (Donna), Dr. Robert Chimenti (Kate), Angie Adams, Arthur Baca (Ginger); and her many nieces and nephews. Dell is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe S. Miera; daughters, Eugenia Miera Barker and Agnes Miera Ireland, her brother, Arthur F. Baca; and her grandson, Jeremy Joseph Huenefeld. Dell moved from Reserve to Albuquerque as a young child and she attended and graduated from the Loretto Academy in Santa Fe. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Masters degree in Education where she received the Ives memorial Scholarship while attending the University. She taught in the Albuquerque Public School system for 35 years at Lew Wallace Elementary and retired in 1975. Dell was the first President of Pi Lambda Theta Sorority, a national honor society for retired teachers. The sorority awarded her the 1991 Scepter and key award recognizing her 50 years of service. She was also awarded the "Alumnus Award for outstanding contributions and dedicated service" from the Albuquerque chapter of the UNM Alumni Association. Dell was active in the Albuquerque and New Mexico Association of retired teachers holding the office of President and Executive Secretary. She will always be known as a "Pink Lady" by the St. Joseph's hospital staff. Dell will be remembered for her work ethic, integrity, her love of children and above all her great smile. BOVA -- Caela Anne Tharp Bova, age 39, passed into heaven on November 25, 2005, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born February 20, 1966, in Houston, Texas, to Jack and Dorothy Tharp. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Steven W. Bova; daughter, Cassidy Elizabeth Bova; son, Keith Henry Bova, all of Albuquerque, NM. Caela is also survived by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Tharp, of Houston, TX; two sisters, Connie Weber and husband, Russ, and Carol Krysher and husband, Ken, both of Houston, TX; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School in 1984; She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology in 1988 from the University of Texas at Austin. Caela was an active volunteer in her children's school, Double Eagle Elementary, as well as her church, Grace Lutheran Church. BROWN -- Winifred Valentine Brown, 85, died peacefully Monday, November 21, 2005, at Lovelace Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Brown, sons, Donald Jr. and Timothy, daughter-in-law Christina, grandson Thomas, and a wonderful loving family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Winifred was born on February 14, 1920, in Clearmont, MO. She was the middle daughter of three children born to Perry and Ada Holbrook. Winifred received her R.N. from Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, MO. She became 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp., and helped to establish a hospital in Normandy, France. Winifred and Donald raised their 3 sons in Ames, IA, where she was an active member in her church circle and passionately involved in the Iowa State University student blood drives for the American Red Cross. In 1994, Winifred and Donald moved to Albuquerque to be closer to Timothy, Christina and Thomas, and also Donald Jr. at Lake Tahoe. Winifred will be remembered by all for her gentle and gracious kindness, her beautiful smile and lilting laughter, and the love she gave to her family and friends. A Memorial Service followed by lunch will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Mesa View United Methodist Church, 4701 Montano Rd. NW. D'ANGELO -- William C. D'Angelo, 43, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2005. He is preceded in death by his brother, Russell D'Angelo, Jr. He is survived by his parents, Russell Sr., Joann D'Angelo; sister, Michelle Swan and husband, Kenneth Swan; nephew, Blake Bristol; nieces, Brittany and Nichole Pennington; friends in Albuquerque and family in Chicago, IL. DAHER -- Lola Tabet Daher, 96, of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005. She is survived by her brother, Sam K. Tabet, Sr. and wife, Louise; and her sister, Thelma Millner both of Albuquerque; her Godchild and niece, Barbara Lutz; and many other nieces and nephews. She was born in Mountainaire, New Mexico and was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community. She was the owner of Daher's Food Market on Broadway for over twenty years. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at 9:30 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, followed by Mass of Christian Burial. GLEASON -- Bettie Claire Gleason was born in Gallup, New Mexico April 1, 1926 to Fred A. Baxter and Inez Fulfur Baxter. She spent her childhood in Taos, New Mexico. After her father passed away in 1937, she and her mother moved to Santa Fe, where she attended school at Loretta Academy. During WWII she worked at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, AZ in the airplane fuel tank and radiator repair department. After the war ended she moved back to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she married CV Henkle. She was widowed in 1960. Bettie and CV had two children, a son, Brian Dexter Henkle, deceased, and Deborah Lynn Henkle Matlock. In 1963 Bettie married, James H. Gleason, a local dentist. She worked with her husband for 18 years in his private practice. Bettie is survived by her husband, James H. Gleason, her daughter, Deborah Matlock, Craig Martin Gleason, Madge Marie and Jeffrey Roberts, her daughter-in-law, Cherlye Henkle. Her grandchildren, Kimberly Gray and her husband, Buster Gray, Kerri Henkle, Hannah, Andy and Sarah Gleason. She has nine great grandchildren, Chelsea and Shelby Gray, Gage and Eden Henkle, Raven, Curtis and Cora Clarye, and Mason Christian. Memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary- Westside Chapel with Paul Gleason, officiating. Ms. Grimley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Arthur J. LAKEMAN -- Ruth A. Lakeman, age 91 and a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years died Friday November 25, 2005 following an illness. Mrs. Lakeman is survived by four daughters, Carol Yanniello and husband, Robert E. and Mary K. Bondurant all of Virginia, Jeannette Lloyd and husband, Thomas R. of Albuquerque, and Patricia Lakeman of West Virginia; one son, Thomas J. Lakeman and wife, Karen of Albuquerque; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lakeman was preceded in death by her husband, John and a granddaughter Kelly. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and had retired from APS in 1975 where she had been a Cafeteria Manager. MARTINEZ -- Ray P. Martinez, age 50, and a life long resident of Albuquerque died on Thursday November 24, 2005 following an accident. ROSE -- Ivan J. Rose, age 65, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2005, passing away unexpectedly of a heart attack. He graduated from St. Mary's in 1958. He went to Electronics School and then worked for Boeing Aircraft of Seattle, working on Minuteman Missiles in Washington State and North Dakota, until he was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1963. He received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from University of New Mexico. He worked for Kirtland A.F.B. Civil Engineers from 1970-1984 and then he went to work for D.O.E., until his retirement, January 3, 2005. Ivan belonged to the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Stewart Rose and Ivan Eugene Rose, and identical twin sons, Ivan Lee and Jack Stewart Rose. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Langell Rose; son, Jeff Rose and wife, Jerri and children, Cole and Lydia; daughters, Julie Jones and children, Ashley, Chris, Lauren and Amber Jones, Ann Marie and husband, Dave Dominguez of Farmington and their children, Kiara and Aric. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jean Cunningham; her daughters, Deanna, Samantha, Andrea and husband, Aric, and three children, Dylan, Mary Hannah and Isabella, from Arkansas and Tennessee; longtime friend and brother-in-law, Bob Langell. He was a descendant of M.T. Moriarty and his daughters, Elizabeth Moriarty Woodman and Margaret Moriarty Stewart; grandmother, and Joe Stewart; grandfather, his mom's sister and brother, Margaret Stewart Moriarty and George Stewart, all deceased. He is known for his integrity, wisdom and honesty. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had a passion to be with his grandchildren, and to be in the outdoors with his hunting dogs. He will be missed tremendously. RUSSELL -- Judith R. Russell, 54, born in Albuquerque on August 15, 1951, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2005. She is survived by her husband, George; her son, Brian Johnson and his wife, Lana; her grandchildren, Tanner, Ashleigh, Nicholas and Bradley; brothers, Robert and Dwight Reed; and her sister, Phyllis Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Willie) and Ruby Reed; her sister, Hazel; and her brother, Bill. Judy was a graduate of Sandia High School and the University of New Mexico. She was a dedicated Albuquerque Public Schools English teacher from 1976 to 2003 at Cibola and West Mesa high schools. Judy was known for her unique teaching style which combined humor, storytelling, and practical advice. She had a special connection with teenagers often assuring them that "learning English would make them handsome." A special interest throughout Judy's life was clog dancing which reflected her love for her Tennessee roots. She started the Comedy Cloggers performing group and taught young people how to dance. Above all, her family was the center of her life. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. SCHALLER -- Robert Schaller, 67, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed on to be with his Holy Father on Thursday, November 24, 2005. Robert was born January 12, 1938, the son of Aloif and Helen Oldis Schaller in Queens, N.Y. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 42 years. Robert served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan and he enjoyed following the New York Mets and the Denver Broncos. He will be remembered as a loving family man who especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; one son, Michael, and his wife, Susan; two daughters, Cindy Keaveny, and husband, Bobby, and Denise Schaller and husband, Rio; seven grandchildren, Nichol, Danielle, Christine, Robby, Deja, Jayla and Jayen; and two great-grandchildren, James and Jacob. SCHRODER -- Mary E. Schroder, 93, passed away at home after a long illness on November 23, 2005. Mary moved from California to her beloved Albuquerque in 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Schroder. Harriett Ward, her sister, passed away last year. Mary is survived by twin daughters, Sarah Spencer and Sally Schroder, both of Albuquerque. She had three grandsons, Chad Spencer, Jason Spencer and Joshua Spencer. She is also survived by two great grandsons, Matthew Spencer and Asher McKay. Mary Schroder was loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 3:00 PM.
