HAMPTON -- Charles Hampton, age 85, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2005. Charles was born in Goree, TX. He graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School, class of 1938. He married the love of his life, Eva Mae, on November 8, 1941. Charles worked at the Santa Fe Railroad in Slaton, TX in 1941; in Clovis, NM, from 1942-1949; and in Belen, NM from 1949-1983. He enjoyed cars, loved working in his garden, traveling, fishing, and camping. He loved Mexican food, but most of all he loved his family. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Barnie Hampton; his sister, Garnetta Edwards; and his brother, G.C. Hampton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Eva Mae Hampton; his son, Wayland Hampton and wife, Diane Hampton of Belen, NM; his daughter, Linda Nicholson of Belen, NM; granddaughters, Sherlyn Cullumber and fiancee, Jason DeVoney of Simi Valley, CA, and Michelle Hampton and fiancee, Ryan Gray of Albuquerque; grandson, Lance Cullumber and his wife, Tamra of Tucson, AZ; great-grandsons, Dylan and Braden DeVoney of Simi Valley, CA; and great-granddaughters, Ashli Hampton and Madyson Gray of Albuquerque, NM. Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 21, 2005; beginning with a visitation at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
