GORDON -- John Joseph Gordon, 88, retired General Counsel with the law department of State Farm Insurance Companies, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Hermitage Gardens of Oxford, MS. The Funeral Service will be Monday, November 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, MS with Father Joe Tonos officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Gordon served in the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Sr. Grade during WWII. He attended the University of Michigan, receiving a B.S. and a law degree. He was the Mayor of Richardson, Texas from 1967 - 1968. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Elks Club, Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Gordon of Oxford, MS; three daughters, Catherine R. Trimble of Ft. Worth, TX, Patricia A. Ekenberg of Carrollton, TX, and Lauren M. Alexander of Oxford, MS; one son, John J. Gordon of Bloomington, IL; three sisters, Carol Ingram of Greenville, MI, Margaret Hamm of Gollad, TX, and Judy Orum of Pahrump, NV; two brothers, James Gerhards of Corpus Christi, TX, and Karl Gerhards of Fulshear, TX; nine grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
