KUHL -- Shirley Ann Kuhl, USAF Lt. Col. Ret., age 73, of Albuquerque, NM and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Kulakowski; mother, Angelina "Nellie" Balionis Kulakowski and sister, Rita McCluskey. Shirley was born on the South Side of Pittsburgh, PA, on July 28, 1932. She attended St. Casimir School throughout her school years and graduated from the high school in 1950. She was a faithful alumnus ever since. She went on to attend the South Side Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in 1953. Shirley worked at the South Side Hospital after graduation. She entered active duty in the Air Force on April 7, 1959. She served in various locations in the US and overseas: Missouri, England, France, Ohio, Clovis, NM, Germany, Phoenix, AZ., Philippines, and Louisiana. She retired from active duty July 31, 1982. Shirley was a member of the Retired Air Force Nurses Association, St. Casimir Alumni Association and Volunteered at the VA Hospital and Barrett House in Albuquerque. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community. A Memorial Scripture Services will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 5, 2005 followed by Full Military Honors by the Kirtland Air Force Base Honor Guard.
