HANKS -- Rev. Calvin B., 48 went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2005. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on April 17, 1957. He was an ordained minister and became an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1980. Calvin is survived by his father, Melvin V. Hanks, Sr. (LaVerne); his children, Aziza Hanks Johnson (David) of Riverside, GA., Carrie Hanks, of Birmingham, AL and Calvin II of Savannah, GA.; four grandchildren; brothers, Irvin (Eileen) of Houston, TX, Melvin Jr. of Escondido, CA, Joseph Williams (Ann) of Dallas, TX; sister, Sheryl Williams of Waldorf, MD. He leaves to mourn, countless relatives and loving friends. Visitation will be at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE on Thursday, October 13, 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2005 at Grant Chapel AME Church, 7920 Claremont Ave. NE. Rev. Dr. John D. Hill will be officiating. Interment is at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
