BARELA -- Isabelle Barela, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque and originally from Santa Fe, passed away on August 30, 2005. She was the widow of Antonio J. Barela. She was the beloved mother of Karla Y. Barela-Lucero and husband, Ray Lucero, of Albuquerque, Sylvia Barela of Albuquerque, Ronald M. Barela and wife, Linda of Tucson, AZ, Caryl J. Goodman and husband, Jim of Kansas City, MO, and Debora L. Barela, and husband, Bruce Ryerson of Helena, MT, and devoted sister Aunt Mary (Eddie) Vigil, who visited Isabelle every, single week for many years. Isabelle had four loving sisters, one brother, and ten grandchildren. At one time, Isabelle was an active member of the Newman Center as well as the Women's Auxiliary of POWs of WWII. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Laurel Canyon Nursing Home for their loving care. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Goodman, Bruce Ryerson, Ray Lucero, William J. Vigil Jr., Ernie Pacheco, and Eddie Villalobos. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vista Care Hospice. The Rosary will be held at Strong Thorne Mortuary, Palm Chapel, on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 7:00 p.m., and the Mass will be held at the Newman Center on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
