BARELA -- Isabelle Barela, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque and originally from Santa Fe, passed away on August 30, 2005. She was the widow of Antonio J. Barela. She was the beloved mother of Karla Y. Barela-Lucero and husband, Ray Lucero, of Albuquerque, Sylvia Barela of Albuquerque, Ronald M. Barela and wife, Linda of Tucson, AZ, Caryl J. Goodman and husband, Jim of Kansas City, MO, and Debora L. Barela, and husband, Bruce Ryerson of Helena, MT, and devoted sister Aunt Mary (Eddie) Vigil, who visited Isabelle every, single week for many years. Isabelle had four loving sisters, one brother, and ten grandchildren. At one time, Isabelle was an active member of the Newman Center as well as the Women's Auxiliary of POWs of WWII. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Laurel Canyon Nursing Home for their loving care. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Goodman, Bruce Ryerson, Ray Lucero, William J. Vigil Jr., Ernie Pacheco, and Eddie Villalobos. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vista Care Hospice. BEAULIEU -- Ryan David Beaulieu, 17, of Los Lunas, NM, died in an automobile accident Sunday, August 28, 2005. He was born in Albuquerque on Monday, September 21, 1987. He attended Los Lunas schools and entered St. Pius X High School in September 2001. Graduating high school in 2005, he had just begun classes at the University of New Mexico. During the past year, Ryan worked at the Wild Bird Center Westside. He also held a summer internship at Sandia National Labs working in environmental research. Ryan is survived by his father, Dana Beaulieu and fiancee, Tracy Longwill; mother, Eileen Beaulieu and stepfather, Ray Schaedler; brother, Dylan Beaulieu; stepbrothers, Joe and Jack Schaedler; grandparents, Janet Beaulieu, Mirella Burke, and Michael and Roselia Burke and family; uncles, David Burke and wife, Theresa, Jeff Beaulieu and wife, Cindy and family, Raymond Burke and wife, Lynn and daughter, Destiney, and William Burke and wife, Carol and family; aunts, Lynne Diaz and son, Mateo, and Susan Riley and family; other family members, Ryan and Casey Longwill, Sheena Hawkins and Melissa Leyba; godparents, Maeve and Dennis Sanders and their daughters, Candice and Siobhan. Ryan touched and influenced all with whom he had contact. He was a person who had a true love and respect for his fellow human beings, the environment and nature. As a member of the Audubon Society, Ryan received national recognition and awards for his continuing rosy-finch migration research project in the Sandia Mountains. As an avid birder and environmentalist, he traveled throughout New Mexico birding and passionately sharing his love and concern for the protection of our natural resources espousing that we all live, in his words, an "earthly" life. As Ryan believed, "the only way people can truly love God, is to truly love the Earth." This beloved person and son will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, and classmates who have, in his short seventeen years, experienced his genuine, caring, and loving personality. The family extends their deepest appreciation for all the support and compassion offered to them during this difficult time. BENISCHEK -- Victor Benischek, 87, a resident of Sandia Park, died Monday, August 29, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Benischek; daughters, Ellen Benischek and Vicki Parker and husband Dr. George Parker; sons, Dale Lillard, Randy McKee and wife, Linda, and Claud McKee and wife, Sandy; grandchildren, Dayle and husband, Clay Kerr, Tres, DJ, Shanyn and Brant Lillard, Kristen McKee, Jessica, Dawson, Noah and wife, Stephanie and David McKee; brother, Howard Benischek; nieces, Rita Benischek, Sandra Benischek, and Sherry Benischek; and loving K-9 companion, Pearl. CANDELARIA -- BOBBY F. Mr. Bobby F. Candelaria, 65, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be home with the Lord on August 29, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Candelaria was born July 6, 1940 and raised in Albuquerque. His personal life was dedicated to his wife, Dolores (Dee Dee) of 43 years, his family, relatives, friends and his church. Mr. Candelaria is survived by his children, Diana Candelaria, Rosalie Ramirez and husband, Charles, JoAnn Stratton and husband, Monty, Roque Candelaria and wife, Anna, Josie Chavez and husband, Gil; one sister, Sister Maria I. (Josie) Candelaria, O.P.; one brother, LeRoy Candelaria and wife, Bella; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters-in-law, Carmen Cohen, Theresa Allen and husband, Kevin; special friends, Trini Sena and Lee Romero; one aunt, Emma Candelaria; one uncle, Leo Archibeque; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Candelaria was preceded in death by his parents, Roque and Isabel Candelaria; two sisters, Anna Maria Candelaria and Rosalia Candelaria. Mr. Candelaria retired five years ago from G.E. after 20 years of employment. He took pride in his garden, enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and playing cards. He possessed a unique combination of immense generosity and good humor. He endured life's tragedies with courage, dignity and faith in the Lord. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed. Mr. Candelaria was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mr. Candelaria will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Doris Nunez. A final visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father John Rebold. CURRY -- Drucilla (Dru), age 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 27, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt and was survived by her son, George Curry Jr. and his wife, Kim, along with their children, Shaun Curry, Dominic Curry and his wife, Holly, Brian Curry and Nick Curry; her son, Mark Curry and his wife, Delores (DeeDee), along with his children, Cainin Curry and Jason Curry; Clifford Curry, along with his children, Jessica Curry, Samantha Curry, Matthew Gladfelter, Kyle Gladfelter, and Michelle Curry; and her daughter, Jessica Stark-Cebada, along with her children, Brandon Stark, Bronson Stark, and Brittany Cebada. Dru was also survived by and blessed to have spent time with her first great-granddaughter, Marilyn Day Curry. Dru was called home to be reunited with her mother and father, Jesusita and Telesfor Chavez; her dear brothers, Clarence Chavez and Ben Chavez; and her dear sister, Emily Klienhen, who all preceded her in death. DONAWORTH -- Jack M. Donaworth Jr., 70, full-time resident of Angel Fire, passed away on August 28, 2005. He retired as a Naval Aviator after 21 years from the US Navy in 1974 and also retired from Sandia National Laboratories as a Field Engineer & Instructor. He currently taught AARP Driver Safety Course in Angel Fire. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gail R. Donaworth; son, Jack M. Donaworth III (Meg); granddaughters, Garland Ann and Jesse Elizabeth Donaworth, all of Denver, CO; and sister, June Smith of Philadelphia, PA. FRANCIS -- Edna J. (Eddie) passed away Saturday evening, August 27, 2005. Eddie was born in Mountainair, NM, June 14, 1935 but spent most of her childhood in Albuquerque. She had been a longtime resident of Edgewood with her husband of 44 years, Richard. She is survived by Richard; daughter, Debra; and son, Joseph; as well as her brother, Samuel Short (also of Edgewood); grandchildren, Richard and Shanna Madrid; and numerous relatives. True to her selflessness and gentle nature there will be no ceremony, only a small private gathering of family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

GROVER -- Ellen Warner Grover passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Keith W. Grover; by her son, Keith W. Grover, Jr.; and by a brother, Tom. She is the beloved mother of her daughter, Penny Sproat and sons, Jon and Tom. She has many grand and great-grandchildren who will miss her. Ellen was born and spent her early years in Ogden, UT. The family moved to Ely, NV where she graduated from high school then attended BYU. She met Keith in Salt Lake City. After their marriage, they established their home in Ely, NV where all of their children were born. In the early 50s she and Keith moved the family to Silver Spring, MD where all of the children graduated from high school. Ellen was a homemaker who particularly enjoyed gardening and baking. She was active in her church and assisted many in need. In 1970 she and Keith returned West, settling in Albuquerque, NM where they resided on Katson Ave. Ellen was a volunteer at the UNM Hospital gift shop for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and was an accomplished bridge player. HAYES -- Warren H. Hayes, 85, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005, at home in Edgewood, New Mexico after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Ginger, of 39 years. He is further survived by his sons, David Hayes and wife, Verna, Christopher Hayes and wife, Kathleen; his daughters, Minka Eric and husband, Paul, Maleen Millmine and husband, Bobby, Connie Hayes and Vaughn Young; his daughter-in-law, Mary Hayes; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and his son, Charles Hayes. Mr. Hayes retired from Holmes & Narver, a construction engineering company, and moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Albuquerque, and later to Edgewood, New Mexico. He was an accomplished artist and enjoyed working in his home and garden during his retirement. 1st Lt. Hayes, USA 116 th Inf., a World War II veteran, served his country on D-Day, June 6, 1944, where he sustained a combat injury. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Memorial services for Mr. Hayes will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2005, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. He will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, with full military honors.

HENNIGES -- Deborah E. Culler Henniges June 12, 1955 - August 26, 2005 Our beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and aunt was born in Albuquerque, NM. She was a resident of Los Lunas for 21 years. Debbie worked at Sandia Labs as a glass melt technician until she felt being a fulltime mom was more important. She owned and operated Amajen Enterprises with her husband for the last 15 years. Debbie was preceded in death by her sister, Stefanie, and she is survived by her parents, Earl and June Culler; her husband, Arthur Henniges; her daughters, Amanda and Jennifer Henniges; family friend, Josh Martinez; younger brothers, Bill and his wife, Terry Culler, David and Tommy Culler; loving aunt to nephew and nieces Danny and Shawna Culler, Megan and Jun Song Culler. JOHNSON -- Elizabeth Pettine Johnson passed away on August 17, 2005. It is with pride and love that we announce this passing of our sophisticated and elegant Aunt. Born on June 29, 1912 in Las Vegas, NM to Miguel Pettine and Virginia Berardinelli Pettine, of Isernia, Italy, she was the last surviving child of thirteen. She received her degree from Highlands University. She was an outstanding educator for over 40 years with the Las Vegas School District, completing her career as principal. She was one of the last living documented historians of Las Vegas, NM. She resided in Las Vegas, NM until 2003. She then moved to Albuquerque, where she was cared for by family members, Betty Macklin Hoover, Monica Pino, Michelle Pino, and Aaron Pino. Her loving caretakers were Connie Aragon and Josie Chavez, and her Presbyterian caretaker was Lewis Sawatsky. She is preceded in death by her precious nephew, Marvin G. Pettine; niece, Karen Pettine Martinez; and all of her siblings. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who she spoiled and loved with all of her heart. Rosary and eulogy will be held September 1, 2005 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Las Vegas, NM at 7:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow at El Fidel Hotel, Las Vegas, NM. JORDAN -- Roberta Jean Jordan, 80, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 18 years, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Roberta was born September 11, 1924, the daughter of Charles M. and Helen M. Kepler Brown in Wisconsin. Roberta had been an art teacher in the Waukesha County school district in Wisconsin. She loved quilting, weaving, arts and crafts. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Jordan and her son, Jeffery Jordan. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Frank of Rio Rancho; grandson, Willard Frank of New Berlin, WI; and great-granddaughter, Eve Serio of West Allis, WI. LESNEWICH -- Jacqueline Riley Lesnewich July 9, 1955 - August 27, 2005 With quiet strength and courage, a deeply rooted faith, and selfless love for her family, Jacque fought a battle against inflammatory breast cancer for nearly two years. She lived her last years as she had lived the rest of her life, touching everyone she knew with the warmth of her smile and the wealth of love in her heart. Although her family and friends across the country will miss her deeply, her love and light will live on in the lives of those she touched. Jacque leaves behind her husband, Tim; her daughters, Ally and Madde Grace; her parents, George and Lucy Riley; her sister, Vickie Babcock; and her brother, Tom Riley. LUSK -- Matthew Dale Lusk, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 26, 2005. He was born on November 11, 1970, and graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque in 1989. After graduation Matt moved to Los Alamos and started taking classes at UNM-LA. He worked at Pizza Hut, Radio Shack, and the S-Site Cafeteria. In 1997 Matt was accepted into the Laboratory's Electro-Mechanical Technician Training Program and after completing that program, he worked in LANSCE-8. Matt loved woodworking, rock-climbing, mountaineering, hiking, and backpacking. As a teenager he enjoyed building and playing with radio-controlled cars and planes and had recently taken up that hobby again. He enjoyed taking his dirt bike out for a spin and going 4-wheeling in his truck. Matt's passion, though, was his Corvette - his very favorite vehicle of all. He adored his niece, Halee, and always gave her his full attention, even if they were playing with Halee's Barbie dolls. Matt is survived by his mother, Claudette (Duncan) Wilmarth and her husband, Jim Wilmarth; father, George Lusk and wife, Janice; brother, Mike Lusk, his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Halee; and grandparents, Jennie and Jess Aldridge of Amarillo, TX, and Lois Wyche of Albuquerque. MANDELL -- Joseph Mandell, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 27, 2005, at age 95. Mr. Mandell was the oldest child of Julius Mandell, a native of Alsace, and Marie Benjamin of Mississippi. He served in the US Army Signal Corp during World War II and for many years was a member of Congregation Albert. Joseph was active in his father's pioneer clothing firm of Mandell-Dreyfuss & Co. (located at 3rd and Central in downtown Albuquerque) and later established stores of his own at Coronado Center and Montgomery Plaza. All those who knew Joseph admired his resilience, cheerful disposition, and unwavering devotion to friends and family. Mr. Mandell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of more than sixty years, Sally [Blend] Mandell; and his younger sister, Maxine Michaelis of Solvang, CA. MARDIS -- Wayne W. Mardis went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2005 at the age of 76. He was born on November 14, 1928 in Clovis, NM. Wayne served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers in 1990. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ione Mardis; sisters, Doris Fishback and Betty Davis; brother, Donald and brother-in-law, Gene Burns. Mr. Mardis is survived by his wife of 31 years Corine; daughter, Lorraine C. Serna; Godchild, Donna Marie Archibeque; special niece, Virginia Montoya; sister, Patti Burns of Las Cruces; brother, Jerry Mardis and wife Madalene of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Barbara Mardis of Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Don Fishback of Belen and several nieces and nephews. MOFFETT -- Margia L. Moffett, 76, a longtime resident of Belen, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 3, 1929 in Vanoss, OK. Margia is survived by her daughter, Hazel Chavez and husband, Dennis of Bosque; sons, Mount Taylor Moffett and wife, Dolores of Belen, Arthur Moffett and wife, Tommie of Clovis; grandchildren, Lisa Thompson, Denise Chavez, Leona Chavez, Alesha Dillander, Lila Major, Aurora Moffett, Zuriyel Moffett, Greg Hill, Naomi Jackson, and Richard Moffett; great-grandchildren, Jessica Thompson, Braeden Torrez, Lithany Devontenno, Kameron Major, Jamie Hill, Tracii Hill, and Corbin Moffett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. RICHTER -- Kathryn Leslie Richter, 46, a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Timothy; two children, Kristin and David; two dogs; and her cat, Ricky. She is also survived by her parents, Richard and Audrey Elliott; sister, Laura, and her husband, Curtis; brother, Mark, and his wife Jodi; as well as by her husband's parents, Don and Jackie Richter, and brothers, Tom and his son Nate, Mark and his son Zachary, and sister, Susan, and her children, Jordon and Marena. Kathy was born November 6, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN. In 1966, she and her family moved from Fargo, ND to Albuquerque, NM. Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Timothy Richter, on June 20, 1980, and celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Kathy was baptized, confirmed, and married by her father in the Lutheran Church. She was truly a child of God, with a very deep faith and strong morals. Although private in her personal life, she loved working with people. She never failed to help those in need and was a witness and a light to many throughout her life. Her positive attitude, and desire to help others, influenced everyone around her. Kathy was very devoted to her children, providing great support to Kristin, and many other dancers, at the Alwin School of Dance. She loved to go to soccer games to watch her son David, play soccer. She was very proud of her children. Kathy was an American Board Certified Optician, and for many years she was employed as an optician in Albuquerque. For the past ten years, Kathy felt blessed to be employed as Business Assistant at the dental office of Michael Haight and Greg Lopour. Kathy's family would like to thank all of their relatives and friends for their kind expression of sympathy extended during this time of loss. SALAZAR -- Ernest E. Salazar went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2005 at the age of 75. He was born on March 26, 1930 in Los Ojos, NM. Mr. Salazar was a member of the Knights of Columbus and The Men's Club in Utah. He was a CCD Principal in Ogden, UT. Ernest is survived by his wife of 39 years, Perfecta Salazar; son, Timothy Salazar; daughters, Roseanne Salazar and husband, Ramon Francia and Dorothy Huff and husband, Benjamin; brothers, Placido Salazar and wife, Bernarda and Luis Salazar; sisters, Ramona Trujillo and husband, Clorovi, Josefa Gallegos and husband, Victor and Jenny Nieto and husband, Jose; and his grandchildren, Joseph Garcia, Jesse Garcia, Chris Huff, Dannielle Huff and Calyssa Huff. SCHMITT -- Richard T. Schmitt, 88, died Sunday, August 28, 2005 at a local hospital in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Gayle Morris and husband, Cliff of Sandia Park, NM; Richard T. Schmitt, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Gallup, NM; Rebecca Schmitt-Baca and husband, Steve of Santa Fe, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren LeeAnn, Wade, Jeremy, Gina, Nikki, David, Rachael, Zachary, and Emily; seven great-grandchildren; and step-sister, Alice Michaels of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Monsignor John Harley Schmitt. Mr. Schmitt served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked for Los Alamos National Labs as a High Explosives Machinist until his retirement in 1977. After retirement Frances and Richard traveled extensively. Richard will be remembered as a generous, independent, hard worker whose Catholic faith guided his life. STROM -- Alta C. Strom, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2005, after a bout of pneumonia and ensuing respiratory distress. She was born on June 28, 1909, to Alice and John Crawford in Langdon, ND. She graduated from Langdon High School in 1926 and married Hilmer Strom on July 4, 1929. Alta spent many dedicated years with US Civil Service at both Sandia Base and Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, she worked base housing, personnel, and classified documents; she retired in June, 1974. Alta most recently resided at Mountain House, an assisted living care facility in NE Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Jack of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Steven, and Julie, all of Washington State; and six great-grandchildren. Alta will be missed by her relatives, friends, caregivers, and Ashley (her cat) and will be remembered as a caring and giving person. Cremation has been scheduled.
