ZAVICHAS -- Barbara "Babs" Zavichas, born September 25, 1932, passed on to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 25, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim Zavichas; three children, Becky Zavichas, Nancy Shiver and Jimmy Zavichas; four grandchildren, Stephanie Narvaez, Jamey Shiver, Jake Shiver and Cameron Zavichas; and two great-grandsons, Cody and Tyler Narvaez. The eighth of nine children, she is preceded in passing by her parents, Henry Sylvester and Ida Jewel Grigg; sisters, Loreen Nordyke, Rudeen Stephens, and Opal Neal; and brother, Mack Grigg. She is survived by sisters, Dot Hutchison, Vonell Farris, Lavonne Elliott and brother, H.L. Grigg. A devoted and adored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved her garden and planted the seeds of her love in each of her children and their children. Many precious memories of her time shared in the garden will be held by all. She enjoyed many activities outside the home and for years was active in the Albuquerque Women's Bowling Association. Her dedication and attention to the many friends she enjoyed through out her participation brought hours of fellowship and pleasure. In 1995 she was honored for her participation with the induction into the Albuquerque Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. A well read and successful business owner, she managed her family and home with love, her business, MiLady's Clotique with wisdom and her life with kindness, charity and grace. Having always been there for her family, no matter the needs, with unconditional care and love, she was surrounded by her family in spirit upon her passing after a courageous struggle with cancer. Honoring her request that she be cremated, a Memorial Service celebrating her gift to all our lives will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005, 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made honoring her memory to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110.
