CHAVEZ -- Jamesray Patricio Chavez, 17, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005. Jamesray was born April 19, 1988 the son of Jeff Rodriguez and Marcella Chavez in Crown Point, NM. He was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church of Rio Rancho; a student of Rio Rancho High School; he liked to lift weights, listen to music, jog, go four wheeling, writing lyrics, draw, camp, skate board, joke around, and play pool. Jamesray is survived by his mother, Marcella Chavez; and his father, Jeff Rodriguez; sister, Angel Rodriguez; and his brother, Valentino Chavez. The Visitation will be held today, Thursday, June 9, 2005 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho. The Service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at the Calvary Chapel of Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Rd. NE, Rio Rancho. CLARK -- James A. Clark, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 6, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Linda Clark Butler and husband, Curtis Butler of Medford, NJ and Cathleen Clark Perez and husband, Michael of Houston, TX; sisters, Charlotte Bakken of Merced, CA and Joyce Clark Fabec of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Matthew Clark Butler, Lindsay Blaes Butler, and Allison Blaes Perez. He was preceded in death by his son, James Kevin Clark Mr. Clark was noted for service to his community, serving as Chairman of the Economic Forum, Chairman of the Albuquerque Development Commission, President of the New Mexico Amigos, Board Member of the Albuquerque Community Foundation, United Way United Circle Chairman, Member of the Distinguished Public Service Awards Council, Board Member of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Lobo Club, Member of the Armed Forces Advisory Association and Chairman of the People FOR Albuquerque. He served as Director of Bowlins Outdoor Advertising and Travel Centers. Ever grateful for his small town New Mexico roots, he recently headed an endowment campaign to provide a permanent scholarship fund for Grady High School students. Mr. Clark was active in a number of professional associations, including the American Bankers Association where he served on the National Government Relations Council and was the State Membership Chairman for New Mexico. He was President of the New Mexico Bankers Association, served as the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the New Mexico School of Banking, and was Counselor for the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. DAVIS -- Charles W. "Chuck" Davis, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, was born in Shinnston, WV in 1934, and died on Monday, June 6, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Twyla; daughter, Kelly Virostko and husband Edward of Albuquerque; son, Kevin Davis and wife Susan of Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Madison and Brittany Virostko; and two grandsons, Dylan and Chad Davis, all of Albuquerque; and sister, Geraldine Floyd of Columbus, OH. Chuck was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served from 1955 to 1957. He was an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, a 25-year New Mexico Lobo season ticket holder and a member of the Lobo Club. Chuck enjoyed playing golf with his friends, watching his grandsons play baseball, and his granddaughters play soccer. He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Upon retirement in 2003 as a financial analyst, he worked alongside his son in the family business. GARCIA -- Onofre "Onie" M. Garcia, age 91, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Princeton Place Nursing Home in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Garcia in 1966. Onofre was born in Nambe to Celestina Ortiz and Nabor Maestas. Onofre graduated from Santa Cruz High and went on to St. Vincent's Nursing School in Santa Fe. As a Registered Nurse, she worked many years for Dr. E. H. Dellinger and was director of nursing at the New Mexico State Hospital in Las Vegas. After moving to Albuquerque in 1961 she worked for Dr. Sands at Lovelace Clinic and UNM Hospital. She worked as an R.N. for 51 years. She is survived by her daughters, Jean and husband Deacon Jim Delgado of Albuquerque, Dana and husband Ron Ebenkamp of Denver, CO; and one son, John and wife Diana of Velarde. She is also survived by three sisters, Frances Montoya and Stella Quintana of Nambe, and Basilia Hofflinger of Lansing, KS. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Benavidez Herrera. She also loved her eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her in-laws, Mrs. Joe (Rosina) Garcia of Velarde, Placido and Adelina Garcia of Socorro, Eloisa Garcia Trujillo of Santa Fe, and David and Betty Hale of Santa Fe, Mrs. Mary Ann Ebenkamp of Pampa, TX; and many other friends and relatives. Onie was also very fond of Aggie Chavez, her caregiver for several years. A Rosary in her honor will be recited at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona, SE, Friday, June 10, 2005, 7:00 p.m. Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2005, 9:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. GUTIERREZ -- Gilbert E. Gutierrez, Sr., 84, a lifetime resident of Cuba, NM died Tuesday, June 7, 2005. He is survived by his two sons, Waldo Gutierrez of Rio Rancho and Gary Gutierrez and wife, Elaine of Albuquerque; three daughters, JoAnn Baca and husband, Ray, of Bernalillo, Sally Maestas of Albuquerque and Kelly Garcia of Rio Rancho; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Angelita Olivas of La Jara, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Epifanio and Agapita Gutierrez; his wife, Rose, of 58 years in August, 2004; two sons, James Gutierrez and Gilbert Gutierrez, Jr.; and two brothers, Rudy and Anselmo Gutierrez. He was born on December 9, 1920 in La Jara, NM. Gilbert graduated from high school in Cuba, NM. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Expert Soldier Badge, and numerous other distinguished decorations and citations. Gilbert was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family; his sense of humor was passed on to his children. Gilbert was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Rosary will be recited at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM on Thursday, June 9, 2005, 7:30 p.m. with Tom Pacheco reciting. MCCLURE -- Frank (Francis Wesley) Former State Senator Frank McClure was born March 25, 1922 to Walker G. McClure and Anna B. Cedarholm McClure and passed from this life Saturday, June 4, 2005. A life-long resident of New Mexico, Frank graduated from Gallup High School in 1942. During WWII Frank proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater and was a veteran of action at Bougainville as well as Iwo Jima. Frank began his long and distinguished public service with election to the School Board at Hatchita, NM in 1952. He was later elected from Valencia County to the new Mexico State House of Representatives serving 1965 - 1966 and the New Mexico State Senate 1967 - 72. After participating in the effort to create Cibola County from western Valencia County he was appointed by Governor King to the first Cibola County Commission in 1981. He was twice appointed to the State Environmental Improvement Board, serving from 1990-1995, during which time he was twice elected Chariman. Frank owned several businesses with is wife and business partner, Hope. He also served as a director of the First National Bank of Grants for several decades. Service organization membership included Malpais Lodge # 69 AF & AM, the Ballut Abyad Shrine, and the Grants Cibola County Chamber of Commerce. Left to remember and enjoy Frank's legacy are many friends and family members which include his wife of 59 years, Hope Bowlin McClure; children, Wayne McClure and Patricia McClure; son in law, Kraig Williams; grandchildren, Angella Hatton, Courtney McClure, Allison Hatton, and Kristin McClure; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jordan, and Kyle; his sister, Olive McClure Delk; his sister in law, Mary Alice Showalter Bowlin; his brother in law, Michael Bowlin and wife Monica; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Milan, NM with the Reverend Dr. Martin Bayang officiating. Cremation has taken place; a private interment will be held at a later date. Anyone who wishes may make a contribution to All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O. RAMIREZ -- Benny "Benado" Ramirez, 61, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, June 4, 2005. He was born Friday, May 5, 1944 in Albuquerque the son of Rafael and Manuela Ramirez. He was a former heavy equipment operator for the city of Albuquerque for over 21 years. Benny enjoyed boating, spending time with his family and the camaraderie of his friends. He is survived by his sister, Maria Elena Candelaria and husband, Santiago, of Albuquerque; brothers, Felipe Ramirez and wife, Ernie, of Albuquerque, Camilo Ramirez and wife, Rose, of California, Juan Ramirez, Ray Ramirez and wife, Ramona, Ralph Ramirez and wife, Rose, and Michael Ramirez, all of Albuquerque; godchild, Richard Ortega; many nieces, nephews; and many close and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jennie Ortega in March 1997. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway SE. RODRIGUEZ -- Ralph Rodriguez, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1998, and formerly of Clayton, NM, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. He was born August 5, 1927 the son of Fernando and Trinidad Contreras in Dawson, New Mexico. Ralph worked in the coal mines in Dawson, Van Houten, and Raton. He retired from American National Insurance Co. after 35 years of service. Ralph had a passion for music and was an accomplished self-taught trumpet player. He had played in many bands over the years. This was only one of his many, many accomplishments. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Trinidad; sister, Estella Cruz; and granddaughter, Sarah Vital. SMITH -- Edgar. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Edgar "Ben" Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Central United Methodist Church. Dr. Smith died on Thursday, May 12, 2005, after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 2, 1932 in Houston, TX, the son of Dr. & Mrs. Burt B. Smith. He attended Rice University and graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his residency in Dermatology at Brook Army Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was on the faculty of the Dermatology Departments at several medical schools and was chairman of Dermatology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX for 21 years. Ben received many honors in his field, including President of the American Academy of Dermatology. Most recently he was on the faculty of the Department of Dermatology of the University of New Mexico. Ben is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Newton Smith; daughter, Sheri Dinehart and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Matthew and Timothy Dinehart; daughter, Robin S. Fredrickson; brother, Kenneth Smith and wife, Yoshiko; sister, Mary Beth Fetzer; brother-in-law, Jack McClendon and wife, Lynn; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. TRUJILLO -- Daniel Allison Trujillo, 43, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away from an auto accident in Las Vegas, NV on Friday, June 3, 2005. Daniel was born August 19, 1961, the son of Ismael T. and Isabel Allison Trujillo in Silver City, NM. He was currently employed as a computer analyst, programmer at UNM. He was an outdoorsman, liked hunting, fishing, golf, and taking cruises. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Ismael and Isabel. He is survived by the love of his life, his fiance, Barbara Nolan; brother, Edward A. Trujillo and wife Lenore of Pueblo, CO; sister, Inez A. Salcido and husband Pete of Las Vegas, NV; many aunts and uncles; niece, Elizabeth Robinson, and nephew, Evan Salcido; and a host of loving friends and family. WILLIAMS -- Carl Rice Williams, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, born Thursday, January 14, 1915 to Hiram Southland Williams and Georgia Frances King Williams, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. In 1925, at age 10, Carl rode a horse and herded other horses as his parents, brothers and sisters traveled in a covered wagon from Albuquerque to Clinton, Oklahoma. Living on their ranch in Clinton, OK, at the age of 15, grade 10, Carl had to quit school and work on the ranch, farming cotton and corn. His parents homesteaded in Mountain Valley and traded that homestead for land in Estancia Valley. On March 10, 1936, Carl married Charleene Dunn. In 1941, Carl and Charleene bought land next to their parents' land where they ranched and farmed, Carl also worked in the San Pedro mine for a year. In the years 1942 through 1945, they milked their cows and cut wood at $10.00 per load to raise their family. In 1953, Carl, Charleene and family joined the First United Methodist Church, there they held many offices including the Questers and Boy Scouts. Carl earned his Builder's Contractor license in 1956 and in 1962 joined the Temple Lodge and became a Master Mason, supported the Boy's and Girl's Ranch and continued to be a rancher and farmer. In 1970, Carl became the Albuquerque City Parks Superintendent. His advice to the younger generation - get an education. He is survived by his children, Delores Jean Williams Broshious and husband, Duane, Donald Ray Williams and wife, Paula and Robert Glen Williams; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Diane Broshious Zarkowski, Debbie Broshious Asbridge, David Broshious, Daniel Broshious, Steve Williams, Susan Williams Davis, Carl Williams and Rob Williams; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Glenn Williams and Wilk Leon Williams; and sister, Fern Williams Dunn. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Charleene on July 18, 1967; parents, Hiram and Georgia Williams; brother, Loyd King Williams; and sister, Opal Williams Bassett. Services will be held on Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Rev. David Okerberg officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Williams, Robert Williams Jr., Steve Williams, Daniel Broshious, David Broshious, Bruce Davis and Bob Asbridge. Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren. WILLIAMS -- Timothy Kee Williams, 32, passed away, Sunday, June 5, 2005. He was born, February 12, 1973 in Gallup, NM, a son of Tom C. and Dorothy Schwiedergoll Williams. He graduated from Menaul High School as a Salutatorian. He received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from New Mexico Tech. He had been accepted to the graduate program at UNM to receive a Master's Degree in Mathematics. He was employed as a Senior Software Principle Engineer for Lockheed-Martin and loved his work as a Rocket Scientist. Tim was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was caring, thoughtful and gregarious. He went out of his way to give to others. Tim was a jack of all trades, and could be counted on for anything. He lived for his music and loved to compose music for his guitar and keyboard. Tim loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; son, Marcus; daughter, Adrianna; mother; Dorothy; brother, Daniel; first wife, Alicia; devoted in-laws, Stephanie, Pula, and Cathy; sister-in-law, Kathy; nephew, Julian; and many close friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 10, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at the Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith NE, Albuquerque with Rev. Jaimie Quinones officiating. ZAVICHAS -- Barbara "Babs" Zavichas, born September 25, 1932, passed on to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 25, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim Zavichas; three children, Becky Zavichas, Nancy Shiver and Jimmy Zavichas; four grandchildren, Stephanie Narvaez, Jamey Shiver, Jake Shiver and Cameron Zavichas; and two great-grandsons, Cody and Tyler Narvaez. The eighth of nine children, she is preceded in passing by her parents, Henry Sylvester and Ida Jewel Grigg; sisters, Loreen Nordyke, Rudeen Stephens, and Opal Neal; and brother, Mack Grigg. She is survived by sisters, Dot Hutchison, Vonell Farris, Lavonne Elliott and brother, H.L. Grigg. A devoted and adored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved her garden and planted the seeds of her love in each of her children and their children. Many precious memories of her time shared in the garden will be held by all. She enjoyed many activities outside the home and for years was active in the Albuquerque Women's Bowling Association. Her dedication and attention to the many friends she enjoyed through out her participation brought hours of fellowship and pleasure. In 1995 she was honored for her participation with the induction into the Albuquerque Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. A well read and successful business owner, she managed her family and home with love, her business, MiLady's Clotique with wisdom and her life with kindness, charity and grace. Having always been there for her family, no matter the needs, with unconditional care and love, she was surrounded by her family in spirit upon her passing after a courageous struggle with cancer. Honoring her request that she be cremated, a Memorial Service celebrating her gift to all our lives will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005, 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
