MCSWEENEY -- W. Loretta McSweeney, age 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died April 5, 2005. She was born March 28, 1925 in Salem, MA to Emil and Winifred (McGivren) LaPointe and grew up in Peabody, MA. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1942. Loretta married Paul McSweeney on April 6, 1947 in Peabody. She came to Albuquerque in 1966. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at UNM in the Department of Medicine for 17 years. Loretta was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center. She was also an avid Bridge player. She is survived by her daughter; Gail W. McSweeney of San Francisco, CA; daughter and son in law, Lisa A. and Brian K. O'Connor of Albuquerque; sister, Kathryn A. Lyons of Peabody, MA; brother, Philip LaPointe of Peabody, MA; grandchildren: Sara R. and Morry L. Roybal of Albuquerque and Darrin K. O'Connor of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren: Ethan M. Roybal and Caleb M. Roybal, both of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. McSweeney and her sons, Paul E. McSweeney, Jr. and Francis Arthur McSweeney. Funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center on the UNM Campus with Father Robert Keller, OP officiating.
