GARCIA -- Viola G. Garcia, 69, a resident of San Ysidro, NM, passed away suddenly in her home on April 8, 2005. She was born on March 3, 1936 in Ponderosa, NM. Viola grew up in Ponderosa, NM. On June 21, 1958 she married her beloved husband, Robert and together they raised 3 children. Viola owned the VG-Bar Cattle Ranch in Cabezon, NM. She served as the Postmaster of San Ysidro for over 25 years. She enjoyed reading, loved watching American Idol, and was the most incredible cook. Her family believes that she made the best red chili on the planet. Viola was preceded in death by her father, Lucio Sandoval; mother, Corina Ruiz; husband, Robert; and her daughter, Barbara Leal. She is survived by her children, Roberta Bennett and husband, Anthony, James "Jimmy" Garcia; sisters, Agnes Sanchez, Tilla Sandoval, Marcia Brown and husband, Stephen; brother, Ulysis Sandoval; her brother in laws, Phil Garcia and wife, Margaret, Mike Garcia and wife, Margie; sister-in-laws, Tillie Lopez, Martha Alderete, Esther Naranjo and husband, Gilbert, Maria Hartranft and husband; grandchildren, Renee, Steven, James, and Ashley; special friends, Louie and Arlene Santillanes; and a host of loving friends and extended family. Viola was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation for Viola will be held on Wednesday evening, April 13, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options in Rio Rancho with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Ysidro Catholic Church in San Ysidro, NM with Father Don Billiard as Celebrant. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket Servers will be Ricky Naranjo, Lawrence Trujillo, Steve Alderete, Franklin Mirabal, James Garcia, and Bernie Trujillo.
