SMITH -- Virginia E. Smith (Virgie), 80, was born on May 12, 1924 in Ralls, TX to James Walter Hunton and Mary Eleanor (Driscoll) Hunton. She was born into a farming family and spent her younger days on farms in places like Ralls, TX, Claunch, and Socorro NM. She was preceded in death by Carl A. Smith, her husband of 38 years. She leaves to mourn, her sons, Carl E. Smith and wife, Sandy, Leon Smith and wife, Sharren, Jimmy Smith; her daughter, Vera Smith and husband, Allan; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Sunset Chapel 924 Menaul NE at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Chad Smith, Richard Nuanes, Les Hall, Bill Montgomery, and Larry Johnson. In Lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial contributions be made to Church at the Butte, P.O. Box 1346, Elephant Butte, NM 87935 or the charity of choice.
