DE LA PORTE -- Terry De La Porte, 57, a management consultant, died Monday, September 20, 2004, at his residence. There will be two services in Terry's remembrance: 3 p.m. Saturday at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, TX, and 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, Terry asked that each of you vote Republican or make donations to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 6311 Driscoll Avenue, Albuquerque, N.M. 87109, and note in his memory. Terry was born in Burlington, IA, and passed away at his home in Keller, TX with his family by his side after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He moved to Albuquerque, NM, when he was 6 and graduated from Sandia High School where he excelled in both baseball and basketball. He played basketball at the University of New Mexico on a scholarship where he earned his BS and MA degrees. He served at Alamogordo High School as head baseball coach and assistant basketball coach. Terry later served for 12 years as director of personnel and training for McDonald's Restaurants and left in 1980 to create De La Porte & Associates Inc., where he conducted workshops for over 150,000 participants across 42 states and 12 foreign countries. Terry's hobbies included golf, traveling around the world with friends and family, periodically fishing the streams of New Mexico and dressing as Santa each Christmas for family, friends, and neighbors. As a strong Christian leader in home and business, he was loved and admired by his devoted family, friends and clients for his loyalty, generosity, mentoring and sense of humor. His passion was developing and mentoring others to reach their full potential. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 38 years, Pam De La Porte; eldest daughter, Kim Haight and her husband, Mike, and their daughter, Taylor, and grandbaby-to-be, Terralyn Haight; daughter, Dawn Leath and her husband, Blake, and their daughter, Lauren; son, Jason De La Porte and his daughter, Kylar; mother, Evelyn Arterburn and husband, Tex; father, Carl DeLaPorte and wife, Betty; sister, Marca DeLaPorte; sister-in-law, Patty Robinson and husband, Mike; numerous nieces and nephews; and aunt and uncle, Son and Louise Timbrook.
