MONTOYA -- Orlando Montoya, 69, born August 30, 1935, was a life long resident of Bernalillo, NM who was called home to our Lord on Monday, September 6, 2004 while surrounded by his loving family. Orlando is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nena Montoya; six children, Chris Montoya and wife, Jane of Bernalillo, Tina Valencia of Bernalillo, Rebecca Montoya and Louie of Rio Rancho, Rosemary Montoya and Paul of Lancaster, CA, Vincent Montoya and Alice of Rio Rancho, and Lisa Parrish and husband, Dennis of Rio Rancho; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Sabino Montoya and wife, Lugardita of Bernalillo, Abran Montoya and wife, Margarita of Bernalillo, and Ricardo Montoya Jr. of Bernalillo. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends. Orlando never met a person that did not become a lifelong "buddy." Orlando was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, bowling and baseball; he was one of the founders of Coronado Little League in Bernalillo, where he coached boys and women's leagues. Being the "Mayor of the Bosque," Orlando was gifted with a green thumb; his grapes and peas were like no others. Orlando was always outgoing and ready to serve. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, who served our country during the Korean War. Orlando was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #4243; the American Legion Post #69; and of the Moose Lodge Chapter #1517.
