GROVES -- Thelma P. Groves, 78, of Mountainair, NM, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2004. She was born March 22, 1926 in Kentucky. Thelma was a resident of Mountainair for 50 years. She was a member of the Mountainair Cowbells and the Mountainair Senior Citizens center. She was married to Howard F. Groves on June 6, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana. She is survived by her husband of 57 years; one daughter, Beverlee Groves and her fiancee, Pat Armstrong of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, La Shanna Reese and her financee, Chris Hernandez; one grandson, Kenneth Reese, all of Belen; sisters, Maxine Hedrick of New Castle, IN and Charlotte Stone of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Joan Sexton of Fairmount, IN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Doris Davis of New Castle, IN; sister-in-law, Eva Groves of Hillsboro, IN; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Groves of Fort Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Preceded in death by her mother and father; one brother, Walter Cline "Big Boy." A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2004 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Mountainair, NM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Leon Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Mountainair cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Reese, Pat Armstrong, Chris Hernandez, Charles Sexton, Earl Jones, and Jim Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be: Clifford Chisum, Kevin Reese, Wayne Jones, Bob Self, and Richard Spencer.
