ADAMS -- Jerry Ronald Adams "Happiness is not getting what you want, but wanting what you have" is the simple creed Jerry Ronald Adams lived his life by. Born January 2, 1941 in Albuquerque, he passed on to his heavenly home on August 27, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Survivors include his wife, Pat; two daughters, Julie (Gary) Stepic and Mindy (Rob) Kueffer; two sons:, Brad (Connie) Adams, and Kenny Adams; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Don Adams; and many other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Albuquerque Presbyterian Hospice.

BARRESI -- Teresa D. "Grandma B" Barresi, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Saturday, August 28, 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Martin and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, Cora Kirk and husband, Paul of DeSoto, TX; sons, Jess Barresi and special friend, Flo Samoyedny of Palm Bay, FL, Victor Barresi and wife, Marla of Kirkland, IL and David Barresi and wife, Sandy of Albuquerque; sisters, Lena Wrhel and Anna Nelson of Albuquerque, and Barbara Jennings of Edgewood; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper; sons, Anthony and Michael; and 2 grandsons, Tim and Donny Barresi. Grandma B, the matriarch of our family, was an inspiration to each of us. She was a beautiful person, loved to laugh, loved to visit and always had a generous loving heart. Mrs. Barresi was a member of McIntosh Senior Center, Los Volcanos Senior Center and a member of Our Lady of Most Holy Rosary Church. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. BAUMGARTNER -- J. Richard Baumgartner, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Friday, August 27, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Baumgartner of Clovis, NM; sons, David Baumgartner of Laughlin, NV and Bruce Baumgartner and wife, Yolanda of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter, Alexis Baumgartner of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Jack Baumgartner of Lubbock, TX; and sister, Joan Boisvert of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Baumgartner; and brothers, Paul and Bill Baumgartner. The family would like to thank his many friends for their time and generosity. Dick was an avid golfer and patron of the arts. He was a graduate of UNM and UNM Law School; then worked as a Labor Lawyer for the State of New Mexico for most of his career and was a member of the NM Bar Association. CHAVEZ -- Tony P. Chavez died Monday, August 30, 2004 in Albuquerque at the age of 83. He is survived by his beloved companion of 43 years, Katherine Soto; daughter, Nancy Hogan; granddaughter, Nicole Ann Hogan; and Helen and Luis Soto. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Chavez and wife, Josie; many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. A Rosary for Mr. Chavez will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. DOMINGUEZ -- Mark Francis Dominguez was born January 18, 1971. On August 26, 2004, our beloved son, Mark F. Dominguez, left us to be with the Lord. Mark was taken tragically in a car accident. Mark is survived by his loving parents, Ray and Fran Dominguez; his loving brother, Ray Dominguez II; his loving niece and God Daughter, Demerie Dominguez; his loving nephew, Jeremy Dominguez; his loving grandmother, Mary Ann Garcia; his close and very special uncles, aunts, and cousins from Albuquerque; and his close and very special uncles, aunts, and cousins from his birthplace of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by a host of wonderful, close, and special friends. Mark will be greatly missed. GARDUNO -- Mr. Jose A. ( Tony ) Garduno, 89, born December 25, 1914. Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother, who he loved devoutly, embraced him with their loving arms as they raised him from his body so ill, to take him home to rest and suffer no more on the glorious morning of August 29, 2004. Tony is survived by his brother, Vincente Garduno of Salt Lake City, UT; a loving sister and brother-in-law, Edwina and Abran Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM; a sister-in-law, Frances Garduno, wife of the late Raymond Garduno of Bernalillo, NM; many nieces,; nephews; cousins; and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Reymundo and Magdalena Garduno; and his beloved brother, Raymond Garduno. Tony was born in Vaughn, NM. The family then moved to Bernalillo, a place he loved, and a place that loved him. After a horrific accident that almost took his life, he lived and was cared for by his loving sister, Edwina and her husband, Abran. Tony was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II serving under the command of General Patton. He was a proud member of the American Legion. Our beloved uncle loved his Spanish music and would dedicate beautiful songs to his nieces whom he loved so much. A loving gentle spirit who embraced humility shall forever be our inspiration. We shall all come together in prayer and song as we celebrate his life. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by his great nieces, Melissa, Victoria, Desiree, Serena, and Viviana. A final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Roberto Fenzl. GROVES -- Thelma P. Groves, 78, of Mountainair, NM, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2004. She was born March 22, 1926 in Kentucky. Thelma was a resident of Mountainair for 50 years. She was a member of the Mountainair Cowbells and the Mountainair Senior Citizens center. She was married to Howard F. Groves on June 6, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana. She is survived by her husband of 57 years; one daughter, Beverlee Groves and her fiancee, Pat Armstrong of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, La Shanna Reese and her financee, Chris Hernandez; one grandson, Kenneth Reese, all of Belen; sisters, Maxine Hedrick of New Castle, IN and Charlotte Stone of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Joan Sexton of Fairmount, IN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Doris Davis of New Castle, IN; sister-in-law, Eva Groves of Hillsboro, IN; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Groves of Fort Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. LEYBA -- Jose Manuel (Melo) Leyba, born July 5, 1923 in San Miguel, died August 28, 2004. Born to Guillermo (Willie) Leyba and Agripina Tapia Leyba and raised by (Stepmother) Luz Rivera Leyba, he was a WWII Veteran where he served honorably in Normandy, Central Europe, Northern France, and the Rhineland. Following the war he worked with the joint United States - Mexican hoof and mouth program in Mexico, and then returned to the family ranch at Leyba, San Miguel County, New Mexico. He is survived by his sisters, Rose Valdez, Emily L. Tapia Montgomery, and Pina Ludi; and his nephews and nieces, to whom he was a second father. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Parish Church, 5310 Claremont, NE. LUJAN -- Mrs. Mary S. Lujan, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on August 29, 2004. MAESTAS -- Martha A. Maestas, 33, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, August 28, 2004. She is survived by her fiancee, David Strittmatter of Albuquerque; mother, Manuelita Gonzales of Sandia Park; father, Jose A. Maestas of Cedar Crest; twin sister, Maria A. Castillo of Sandia Park; brothers, Jose A. Maestas Jr. of Sandia Park and Matt L. MAUK -- Timothy Andrew Mauk, 39, a resident of Albuquerque for 34 years, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. He is survived by his parents, Sam and Nancy; sister, Emily; grandmother, Rosa Mauk of Missouri; 7 uncles; 6 aunts; and numerous cousins. Tim was a graduate of Del Norte High School and Chapman University. He was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 23 years. Tim will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving family and friends. PEASE -- Marshall A. Pease, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, August 29, 2004. He is survived by his son Craig Pease and wife Tracy of Aliso Veijo, CA; and their children Marshall, Judd, and Glyn; other children, Jane and John Clarke, Steve and Sharla Haley, Mark and Terry Haley, all of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Billy Pease of Kentucky. ROSTRO -- David Estrada Rostro, 75, was called to Heaven by our Lord, on August 28, 2004. He was born in Roswell, NM, on November 13, 1928 to Jesus and Antonia Rostro. David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. Rostro; and his loving children, Dave and Christine Rostro, Patsy and Robert Garcia, Paul Rostro, James Rostro, Sabrina and Efren Garcia, Cynthia and Gary Saiz. David was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His presence will be missed but his strength will live on, in all of us. SAIZ -- Norma J. Saiz, 41, was born on Saturday, June 29, 1963 and passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Her smile brightened the room. Her laugh was contagious. When she loved you, you definitely knew it. Norma was many things to many people, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend. She lived life like many only dreamed, to the fullest. SANTILLANES -- Bertha Santillanes, 73, passed away late Friday evening after an illness. She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony; a daughter, Sylvia; a granddaughter, Sabrina; and a sister, Lucille. She is survived by her spouse of 50 years, Louis A. (Tony) Santillanes; two grandchildren that she raised, Howard and Anthony Connick; daughter, Barbara Tapia and husband, Tulio of Rio Rancho; four sons, Mike and wife, Debbie of Taylor Ranch, Jeff and wife, Cissy of Rio Rancho, Larry and wife, Marie of Alameda, and Gary of Rio Rancho; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ernest of Flagstaff, AZ, Mauro of Los Angeles, CA, Henry of Yucaipa, CA, Clyde of Las Vegas, NV; five sisters, Nila Baca, Ramona Foresburg, Hazel Troncoso, and Palela Moreno, all of California, and Sally Lucero of Cubero, NM. Bertha was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Alameda, member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 69, past president of the Nativity Altar and Rosary Society, SNMDMP # 2 of Alameda, and several other organizations. She was an avid golfer and had belonged to the Niners Club of Rio Rancho Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, she would have preferred donations to American Legion Girls State in care of Unit 69 or to the charity of your choice. A requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alameda. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandsons and granddaughters. STAEHLIN -- Alfred Carl Staehlin, 82, passed away among family at the Heart Institute of New Mexico on Saturday evening, August 28, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Dorthea Staehlin; sons, Alan Staehlin of Albuquerque and David Staehlin of Friday Harbor, WA; sister, Marlene Mathis and husband, David; stepchildren, Crest Merrill, Rockney Merrill, Tyla Merrill and Melanie Wycloff, whom all reside near Eagar, AZ; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Amity Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Eagar, AZ. A public viewing will be held the preceding day from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Owen's Funeral Home in Eagar. Al was born and raised in Albuquerque, attended Albuquerque High School and was a part of Albuquerque Plumbing and Heating, established by his grandfather, Augusta Staehlin, in the late 1800's. During high school Al served as president of the ski club-skiing a passion only surpassed by his love of dancing. Al signed up for military service in August of 1942 and proudly served his country during WWII, operating a radio navigation beacon located on Baffin Island in the Artic which provided a homing signal for troop and supply planes making the great circle navigation route to/from Europe in preparation of the invasion of Normandy. After the war, Al went on to become a NM State plumbing inspector and was responsible for ensuring code compliance and for investigating natural gas asphyxiation cases for the next 20 years. After retiring from the state, Al became supervisor of plumbing facilities maintenance at the University of New Mexico for an additional 15 years. Al was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Al moved to Eagar, AZ in 1977 with his wife, Dot where he has since resided. In closing, the family would like to acknowledge and say thank you to the staff of the Heart Institute of New Mexico for the caring, compassion and kindness they provided throughout this most difficult time.

STRUNK -- Deborah Duff Strunk, 62, lost her valiant two-year battle with lung and brain cancer at home with her family on August 28, 2004. Deborah was born on February 14, 1942 in Canton, OH and has resided in Albuquerque since August of 1990. She is survived by twin daughters, Rachel and Rebekah; Richard, her husband of almost 32 years; as well as sisters, Bonnie Isaacs of Kingston, WA, Marjean Carnahan of Aromas, CA; and several nieces & nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Clark Haskins; Dr. Barbara McAneny; the other partners and staff of the New Mexico Cancer Center; as well as the staff of the Oncology Unit of Presbyterian Hospital; and last but not least the members of Presbyterian Home Health Care and Hospice Program for their loving care over the past two years. WILLIAMS -- Senora Williams, a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and best friend. Born on March 16, 1949 in Dalgreen, VA, she then moved to Albuquerque where she became a lifelong resident. Senora was a member of God's House Church; her pastor is Bishop Michael Shelby. Senora went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2004. WILSON -- Donald "Bruce" Wilson died August 28, 2004. Bruce was born to Bernice Ferguson Wilson and Donald Howard Wilson on November 4, 1933. The family moved to Albuquerque, NM where his father worked as a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers. Bruce attended Albuquerque High School and graduated from Highland High School in 1951. He played basketball for the UNM Lobos, and served as team captain in 1955. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the UNM in 1956. He married Aletta Erwin Thomson on August 31, 1956 in Cranford, NJ. He will be missed as husband, father, grandfather, teacher, mentor, activist, supporter, competitor, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Aletta; and their four children, Linda and Andrew Zimmerman, their children, Ian, Rachel, and Mary; Donald and Lesa Wilson, their daughter, Denali; Kathe and Steve Kanim, their children, Anne and Russell, all of Las Cruces; and Kevin and Tamara Wilson, and son, Austin of Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by his sister, Bernice Kuhn of Newark, OH; his uncle, William Ferguson of Apache Junction, AZ; and numerous other relatives. YOUNG -- Charles Alan Young, 54, of Placitas, born in Kalamazoo, MI on December 28, 1949, passed away on August 28, 2004 in a tragic bicycle accident in Colorado. Charlie died while doing what he loved more than anything else in this world. A strong and courageous runner and cyclist, full of spirit, sportsmanship, and compassion, he was a true champion. He was a proud Wolverine and completed his A.B. at U-Mich followed by his LL.B and LL.M. at the University of British Columbia before settling in New Mexico in 1976. A brilliant and energetic lobbyist, husband, and father, he leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Lucy Fox, MD; his daughter (and shining star of his life), Justine Colette Fox-Young; his brother, Jim and sister-in-law, Lisa Young; brother-and sister-in-law, Jim and Meg Fox; and beloved Labrador retrievers, Cosmo, Peaks, and Sidney. We wish we could name all his cherished friends and family here; we love you all and deeply appreciate your support.
