Donald O. Shirley, age 88 of Delmont, PA., died Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He was born on October 27, 1915 in Nowrytown, PA, a son of the late James O. and Ruth E. (Libengood) Shirley. Don retired in 1978 from the maintenance staff at the University of Pennsylvania, New Kensington Campus. He enjoyed Square dancing, Hunting at his camp in Elk County, PA, traveling, and playing the organ. Mr. Shirley was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, PA and was a proud member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah J. "Sally" (Irwin) Shirley on June 16, 2004; and a grandson, Kevin Scott Shirley on May 29, 1999. Surviving are a son, K. Wayne Shirley and his wife, Joan of Albuquerque NM; two daughters, Donna Earnest and her husband, Barrett of Delmont, PA, and Joy Morsaint and husband, Dane of Carnegie, PA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a step-brother.
