BARRERAS -- Biliardo (Bill) G. Barreras, age 76, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father, Thursday, August 19, 2004. He was born in Polvadera, NM to the late Paul Benavidez and Tillie Barreras. Bill was a resident of Albuquerque; and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, who served our country proudly. Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for 27 years as a Mail Courier in the Albuquerque area. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecca Barreras of the family home; his children, Theresa Bell and husband, Rick, Claude Barreras and wife, Georgia, Steven Barreras and wife, Shelley, Rosemary Randolph and husband, Jim, Paul Barreras, Mary Casco and husband, Guillermo, and John Barreras; his precious grandchildren, Amy Sollars, Lisa Fernandez, Kenny Bell, Adam Barreras, Eve Barreras, Bryan Chavez, Francisco Barreras, Nicolas Casco, Danielle Casco; and ten great-grandchildren. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. BOYER -- Michael Edward Boyer ascended into our Heavenly Father's arms on August 11, 2004 at the age of 37. Michael was born on December 28, 1966 and was raised in Alameda and is survived by his mother, Nora Boyer; his sons, Ezekiel and Xavier; his brothers, Manuel, Matthew, Travis and Tyler; and many more beloved family, bikers and friends. Those who knew Michael knew he loved God and loved to tell people about Jesus. He was an admirable cowboy when he was young, he became brilliant at a very young age, he had a clever and witty sense of humor, he would help anyone at any moment, he was generous with his time and money, he worked day and night and accomplished many trades, he could creatively fix whatever was broken, he was resourceful and inventive, he was a tattoo artist and biker at heart and was extraordinarily beautiful to look at. Surely Michael will leave an impressively rare memory in each of our hearts. Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Tabernacle of Praise, 6013 Paradise Boulevard NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 (898-4508). CAUGHRAN -- James Virgil Caughran, aged, 84, passed away August 17, 2004. He was born October 25, 1919 to Harry Lonzo and Wannie Belle Caughran in Grady, NM. He married his first grade sweetheart, Elsie Faith Bliss, June 29, 1941. They moved to Dove Creek, CO in the mid 1940s where he farmed and ran an LP Gas business. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1950s and lived here for over 45 years. He was a successful real estate businessman and was the prime developer of Elephant Butte Estates. He loved to spend time with his family at his home on Mount Taylor. Virgil was an avid nature lover, conservationist and enjoyed raising livestock. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife; his son; his parents; his brother; and his sister. He is survived by his niece, Barbara Woodward and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque; and his nephew, Dr. Leroy Coffman and his wife, Carol of Winter Haven, FL; and many, many close friends. Virgil was a loving, caring, husband, father, and mentor to many in his family and in the community and will be missed by everyone he touched. CHAMBERS -- Marion "Chips" Chambers, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Beatryce; daughter, Barbara Chambers; son, John M. Chambers and wife, Harriett; grand-daughters, Megan and Lauren Chambers; sisters, Kayla Shellenberger and Virginia Dunn; two aunts, Ruth Israel and Edith Treece; two special cousins, Erma Miller and Eugene Campbell; and a large extended family. Marion served honorably in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He is a member of Sandia Baptist Church and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He will be remembered as a true friend, always a gentleman, and a master craftsman. He created beautiful woodwork for his church and his many friends. CSEPREGI -- Frank Csepregi, 61, passed away on August 14, 2004 at the Cleveland Clinic due to complications following open-heart surgery. Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to the US in 1956 at the age of 14 following the Hungarian Revolution. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Washington and later went on to become a Mine Health and Safety Specialist for the U.S. Government. Frank proudly served our country as a Green Beret in the Special Forces of the Army. Since his retirement in 1986, he actively served our community as a member of the St. Pius Foundation Board of Trustees, the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Aquinas Newman Center Catholic Parish. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Alice Marosi-Csepregi; children, Cathy Csepregi of Chicago, Nicole Adams and her husband, Jerry of Indianapolis; mother, Magdalena Hollo; sister, Eva Hollo; and mother-in-law, Anna Marosi. A wake will be held Friday, August 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., and the funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004. DENNY -- F. Charles Denny, 56, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Denny of Tijeras; a son, Chuck Denny and wife, Caitlin of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Tanya Yearout and husband, Bret of Tijeras; sister, Barbara D. Mr. Denny worked for St. Joseph Health Care systems for 20 years, which is currently Lovelace Sandia Health System, and also did computer-consulting work. LEYVA -- Mr. David M. Leyva Sr., 78, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on August 18, 2004. Mr. Leyva is the beloved husband to Mrs. Esperanza ( Kancho ) P. Leyva, married for 57 years. Mr. Leyva is also survived by his loving children, David Leyva Jr., Maria Erlinda ( Dita ) Sandoval, Ismael ( Milo ) P. Leyva, Moses ( Moe ) P. Leyva, Ricardo A. Leyva and Adrian A. Leyva. Mr. Leyva is also survived by one sister, Ursula Fierro of El Paso, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Leyva was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alicia Ruybal. Mr. Leyva was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in World War I I. A visitation for Mr. Leyva will be Sunday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Memorial Service to be held at 2:00 p.m. by Chaplain Christine Montano. MANDELL -- Sally Mandell, 89, passed away August 12, 2004. MARES -- Ruben Matthew Mares, age 20, a resident of Albuquerque for the past six months and longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 20, 1984 to Susan and Eloy Mares. He loved to listen to music, play video games, hang out with his friends, and watch comedy movies. He was a stereo and Amplifier installer and enjoyed tinting windows. He was employed as a cook at Chili's Restaurant in Albuquerque. MARX -- Beloved husband William Manfred Marx passed away on August 8, 2004. He resided at The Montebello on Academy. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany on January 10, 1915. Mr. Marx attended medical school in Turin, Italy. He had to flee Italy during WWII six months prior to completing medical school. Mr. Marx came to the United States and attended UCLA to become a Bio-Analyst. He opened a medical laboratory in California and retired after 30 years. He and his wife moved to NM in 1977. REITER -- Hope Reiter, age 81 and a resident of Albuquerque for 25 years, passed away on Friday August 20, 2004. Mrs. Reiter is survived by her husband, Bernard Reiter of Albuquerque; one daughter, Rebecca Reiter of Albuquerque; two sons, Charles Reiter and his wife, Karen of FL, and Stephen Reiter and his wife, Diane of CA; five grandchildren, Matthew, Keramet, Nathan, Sara, and Megan Reiter; and one great-grandchild, Joshua Nelson. She was a member Congregation B'Nai Israel, the Sister Hood, Woman of Achievement. She served on the Board of Congregation B'Nai Israel and was membership chairman. SHANLEY -- Robert Joseph 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, departed this life August 12, 2004 after a brief illness. He was a distinguished Naval Aviator, Husband, Father, Neighbor, and Friend. He is survived by son Jaemes, his daughter-in-law Noreen, sister Mildred, and nephews Harry, Karen, Katie, Kim, Mike, Robert and Sharon. Bob graduated with Distinction from UNM in 1975 after retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy with 30 years of active duty and over 10,000 logged flying hours. He marveled and rejoiced his entire adult life at the greatness of a nation which provided him a path to escape the poverty of an orphaned childhood in the Great Depression and, having survived combat from the decks of the USS Lexington in the Battle of the Coral Sea went on to serve his country as a highly regarded aircraft and helicopter pilot, a job he loved his entire working life. After retirement in 1971, with his wife Hazel until her passing in 1994, he assumed a new career, with equal joy, as the "Mayor of California Street." Until the end of his life, nothing gave him greater pleasure than being a connected and caring member of his neighborhood community. The power of his presence lives on in those who loved him. Funeral services will be private. An event for friends to gather and "swap sea stories" will be announced. His family wishes to express their unbounded gratitude and admiration for the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Lovelace Hospice Program who are nothing less than Angels of Mercy in our midst.

SHIRLEY -- Donald O. Shirley, age 88 of Delmont, PA., died Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He was born on October 27, 1915 in Nowrytown, PA, a son of the late James O. and Ruth E. (Libengood) Shirley. Don retired in 1978 from the maintenance staff at the University of Pennsylvania, New Kensington Campus. He enjoyed Square dancing, Hunting at his camp in Elk County, PA, traveling, and playing the organ. Mr. Shirley was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, PA and was a proud member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah J. "Sally" (Irwin) Shirley on June 16, 2004; and a grandson, Kevin Scott Shirley on May 29, 1999. Surviving are a son, K. Wayne Shirley and his wife, Joan of Albuquerque NM; two daughters, Donna Earnest and her husband, Barrett of Delmont, PA, and Joy Morsaint and husband, Dane of Carnegie, PA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and a step-brother. STETSON -- Edgar D. Stetson passed away August 18, 2004 at the age of 75. He Retired from the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant in July, 1967. TAFOYA -- Johnny Abraham Tafoya, Jr., age 24, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 18, 2004. He was born on June 19, 1980 in Las Vegas, NM to Johnny M. Tafoya Sr. He was united in marriage to Charity Astle - Tafoya on August 19, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV. He was employed as a technician for Nobel Satellite Country. He was a guy that had a huge heart and was very loved and very loving to others. His hobbies included computers, roller blading, camping, fishing, weightlifting, and electrical work, and he loved his dog, Pharaoh.
