SANCHEZ -- Mrs. Libby Loretta Sanchez, 76, a resident of Albuquerque left this earth to be with the Lord on August 4, 2004, passing away peacefully at home in the loving arms of her family. Libby is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Orlando Eli Sanchez. Libby is also survived by her children, O. Paul Sanchez and wife, Christine, M. Yvette Sanchez (Evita), Cynthia A. Mitchell and husband, Joe, Joseph A. Sanchez and David R. Sanchez; Libby was grandmother to Adam Sanchez of Washington, D.C. who's mother is Phyllis Padilla, Joseph Brian Mitchell, Eric Shawn Mitchell, Jennifer Pauline Sanchez, Joseph Andrew Sanchez, Carol Lynn Sanchez is the mother of Jennifer and Joseph; great grandma to Alanna Mitchell and Tyler Mitchell; six sisters, one brother and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Felicita Griego and a brother, Orlando Griego. Libby's life was creative and productive. She was an expert seamstress, oil painter, ceramist and doll house miniaturist. She was the originator of the women's programs of West Side Community Center in the South Valley and taught Knitting, crochet and ceramics there during the 1060s and early 1970s. Libby was a member of the Catholic Church, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and helped with the thrift shop there for many years. Libby thought fondly of her many friends and will be missed greatly by all her family. A visitation for Libby will be Sunday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Monday morning in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW by Monsignor Leo Lucero. Interment will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Adam Sanchez, Joseph Brian Mitchell, Eric Shawn Mitchell, Jennifer Pauline Sanchez, Joseph Andrew Sanchez and Juan (Polo) Armijo.
