OTERO -- Dolores G. Otero, known to many as "Grandma Dee", passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at her home at the Village of Alameda. She was 99 years old. Dolores was born to Rosendo and Fidelia Trujillo Gonzales on April 12, 1905, in Wagon Mound, New Mexico. She was raised in Mora, New Mexico. At the age of 12, her family moved to Albuquerque. She attended Sisters of Loretto high school in Bernalillo, NM. Dolores worked as a credit associate for Montgomery Wards, and Sears and Roebuck. She retired after 25 years of service and spent the majority of her retirement years caring for her grandchildren and family. Dolores was a devout catholic and taught all of us true spirituality and the power of prayer. She was actively involved in the Women's Auxiliary of St. Charles Borromeo Church for many years. She was a master crochet artist and won many awards for her work. She is survived by her one daughter, Barbara (Silva) Sanchez and husband, Ed, of Albuquerque; one son, Tony Otero and wife, Gail, of Hollywood, Florida; grandchildren, Jamie Silva Steele and husband, Ernie; Jim (Tony) Silva and wife, Angela; John Silva and wife, Denise; Joe Silva and wife, Chela, Michelle Otero, Jeannie Otero, Briahna Otero, Mikayla Otero and Keith Otero; nine great-grandchildren; nieces nephews and many friends from the Village of Alameda where she spent her last years of her life. Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Fred V. Otero, and also all her six siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, on Monday, August 2, 2004, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jim (Tony) Silva, John Silva, Joe Silva, Ernie Steele, Joe Padilla, Pat Sisneros and Dennis Gonzales. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Village of Alameda for the loving care they provided as well as the staff of Odyssey Healthcare of Albuquerque.
