MONNIN -- MSgt. Steven Anthony Monnin died suddenly on Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Spokane, WA where he was stationed in the USAF at Fairchild, AFB. Steven was a loving husband and father who is survived by his wife of 16 years, Elizabeth; three sons, Anthony, Andrew, and Nicholas; and daughter, Christiana, all of Spokane, WA; parents, Anthony and Alice Monnin of Albuquerque; brother, Gregory Monnin of Albuquerque; sisters, Diana Moya and husband, John of El Paso, TX, Linda Moriarity and husband, Corey of Great Falls, MT, and Laura Nichols and husband, Tor of Las Cruces; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Claire Rufe of Albuquerque. Steven was born on March 18, 1969 in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1987 and joined the Air Force in September of that year. He also attended College in Wyoming and Spokane, and was one class away from receiving his associated degree in Electrical Technology. Steven was a member of the Catholic Church and was active as a scout leader in the Boy Scouts. He volunteered as a mentor with the Big Brother/Big Sister program and participated in Habitat for Humanity. He also coached several little league teams throughout the years. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, August 3, 2004, 8:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church with funeral mass following at 8:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., with full military honors.
