LEYBA -- Rodolfo Juan Leyba, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for 39 years, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004. Rodolfo was born and raised in Penasco, NM. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma Leyba; daughter, Yolanda P. Crosby; and son, Rudy Martin Leyba, both of Albuquerque; grandsons, Ronald, Richard and Roger Crosby; granddaughter, Caitlin Amy Leyba; and grandson, Gilbert Leyba from whom he has four great grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Madeline, and Max Leyba; sister, Emily Refo of San Francisco. Rodolfo was preceded in death by his son, Gilbert Leyba; sister, Amalia Trujillo; and brother, Sam Leyba. Mr. Leyba served six years in the US Army, where he received two Purple Hearts for combat wounds in the Philippines. He was Honorably Discharged on April 23, 1946 as a war hero. Rodolfo raised his family as a skilled carpenter, craftsman, and cabinet-maker. He will be sorely missed. Services will be held at St Francis Catholic Church, 816 Broadway SE, on Monday, July 19, 2004. A Viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m., and a Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Military Honors, at 2:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers please send donations to the Parkinsons Foundation.
