GONZALES -- Mr. Pablo O. Gonzales died Sunday, June 6, 2004 in Albuquerque at the age of 74. Mr. Gonzales served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. During his career he worked for the Albuquerque Public Schools and retired in 1991. Mr. Gonzales was very active in the community. He served as a former president of the East San Jose Association and of the East San Jose Seniors Association. During his service to the community he was awarded "Person of the Week" by a local television station. He was also given an award by Woodmen of the World for being a community leader. Mr. Gonzales is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Aurelia Gonzales; brothers, David and Ernest Gonzales; and sister, Dorothy Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Lugardita (Lugie) Gonzales; children, Dorothy Sauceda and husband, Remijio (Joe), Louis (Steve) Gonzales, Eileen Johnston and husband, Jay, Matthew Gonzales, and Chris Gonzales; brothers and sisters, Lita Gillespie, Adolph Gonzales, Susie Martinez; and Wilfred Gonzales; and his grandchildren, Remijio Jr. and Sophie. A Rosary for Mr. Gonzales will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday also at St. Francis Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mannie Luna Jr., Gilbert Martinez, Ernie Martinez, Michael Gillespie, Gene Griego and Freddie Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Griego and Paulette Gonzales.
