WENDORFF -- Erwin R. Wendorff, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died on May 27, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wendorff of Placitas, NM; brother, Dr. Horst Wendorff of Berlin, Germany; other relatives of Dresden, Germany. He was born in Beuthen, Upper Salesia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Wendorff and Maria Dlugosch. In 1975 he received an award by the National Society of Professional Engineers for 1 of the 10 outstanding engineering achievements in the United States. In 1987 at the 750th anniversary of Berlin, Germany and accompanied by President and Mrs. Reagan, he read one his original poems. On October 28, 1986, he read one of his original poems in English and French at a ceremony celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, that poem has been translated into at least eight languages. The poem now resides in the Bartholdi Museum in Kolmar, France. Memorial rosary will be celebrated on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo with Valentina Duran, reciting. Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Virgil Furfaro, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Placitas Catholic Cemetery. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (505) 897-0300
