ESCOBEDO -- Thomas (Tommy-Quate) Escobedo, age 62, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home by our Heavenly Father and Savior, Monday, May 17, 2004 while surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was born in Gonzales, TX; and was a resident of Albuquerque. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, devoting his faith by serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. Tommy retired from the University of New Mexico after 36 years as Supervisor Teaching Lab. He was the owner and operator of Escobedo Thomas and Sons Construction Co. He was a "hard worker" who really enjoyed working with his hands. He was a very loving and giving man, who loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Petra Escobedo; his twin brother, Valentine and two other brothers, Johnny and Lupe; and one sister, Florita Escobedo. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dolores (Lola) Escobedo of the family home; his precious children, Veronica Mora and husband Jeff of Bernalillo, Jeff Escobedo and wife Monica of Albuquerque, Miguel Duran of Bernalillo, Tommy Rodarte and wife Charlene of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Daniel Martinez and Joseph Escobedo. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Joseph Duran and wife Roseanna; his brothers and sisters, Mary Ann Borgues and husband Roberto, Abel Escobedo and wife Mary Louse, Alice Gomez and husband Jessie, Roland Escobedo and wife Sue, Frances Martinez, Louis Escobedo, Ernest Escobedo and wife Carmen, Sylvia Casares and husband Jack, Maggie Barrera and husband John, and Sandra Stovall all of Texas; numerous other beloved family members and friends. Tommy will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd., NW. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with Fr. Ramon Aragon as celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luis Jaramillo, Leo Chavez, Sr., Leroy Esquivel, Joseph Duran, Tommy Dominguez, and Lary R. Lenke. Honorary bearers will be Leo Chavez, Jr., and Mike Riojas. Military Honors will be accorded by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III Honor Guard. Funeral services are entrusted to: Alameda Mortuary 9420 4th Street NW 898-3160
