WELKENBACK -- Wayne T. Welkenback, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died on April 23, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Faye Welkenback of Albuquerque; stepchildren, William Galloway and wife, Karen of Rio Rancho, Ron Galloway and wife, Donna of Boise, ID, Mary Galloway of Albuquerque, Lynda Lane of Salt Lake City, UT, Gayle Del Greco of Auburn, CA, Ben Cherry of Childress, TX, Linda Hall and husband, Kent of Rio Rancho, Pam Nickels and husband, Michael of Belen and Diane Carman and husband, Steve of Albuquerque. Wayne is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline; daughter, Linda and three sisters, Mildred, Margaret and Charlotte. Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paradise Hills Ward. He retired in 1987 from Sandia National Labs after being employed for 22 years. Wayne was an Army veteran of WWII. Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paradise Hills Ward, 4500 Seven Bar Loop NW with Bishop Dean Gessel, officiating. Burial will follow at Sandia Memorial Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. Pallbearers will be William Galloway, Ron Galloway, Blaine Emms, Ken Scribner, Ron Montgomery, and Dr. Blair Thurgood.
