COLLINS -- Laura Jean Collins, loving wife and mother, passed away on April 22, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 1, 1959 in Washington State. Laura was a great inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted member of the Community of Joy Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho. Laura was a drag racer, enjoyed jet-skiing, fishing and loved just hanging out with "her people". She was preceded in death by her son, Delaney. Laura is survived by her beloved husband, Rollie; mother Jeanette Christian; brothers, Nathan Whitson and wife Emily, and Robert Whitson; sister, Molly Whitson; her Grandpa Red; Rollie's son, Jarrod; her precious "children", Caitlyn, Nathan, and Cody; and a host of very special friend and loved ones who will deeply miss her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options (2400 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho) with Pastor Scott Hackler officiating. Graveside services will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in Laura's name to the Community of Joy Lutheran Church, 841 Saratoga Dr., Rio Rancho, NM 87144.
