SALAS -- John Salas, age 82, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home by our Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 7, 2004. John was born in Pena Blanca to the late Nicholas and Candelaria Salas; he was a resident of Alameda; and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. John was the owner and operator of the Five Points Barber Shop for over 50 years; he was a proud Honorable Veteran of the United States Army who served our country during World War II; and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post #13. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Thomas Salas. John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Erlinda Salas of the family home; his wonderful children, Nick Salas and Josie, Juanita Trujillo and husband Henry; his precious grandchildren, Nicole, Jonathan, Natasha, Nathaniel and Jason. Also surviving are one sister, Lena Chavez; sister-in-law, Martha Garcia; other beloved relatives and a host of friends. John will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Final viewing will be Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted this morning at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Casket bearers will be Jonathan Salas, Henry Trujillo, Carlos Garcia, Fred Garcia, Gilbert Aragon and Clyde Aragon.
