NEWELL -- Mildred Daniel Newell, 94, a long time resident of Albuquerque and Ft. Sumner, NM died on Thursday, February 12, 2004. She is survived by four grandchildren, Nancie Bagdon and husband, Al, Troy Newell and wife, Kim, Linora Claussen and Kent Newell all of Denver, CO. Three great-grandchildren, Stacie Nicholson Brader and husband, Ryan, Kellie Nicholson Edwards and husband, Brian, and Jared Gene Newell. One great-great- granddaughter, Alison Edwards. Mildred is also survived by two sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Newell and son, Bob Newell. Mildred's husband worked as a welder and was very talented in every phase of ironwork. Upon his retirement, Mildred and Lou moved to Ft. Sumner. When they traveled back to Albuquerque, they always had a room with their good friends, Dr. Paul and Marty Lambert. Mildred was a loving wife and mother who loved her home and especially working in her yard. She was an avid collector of bottles, cans, stamps and many other items of interest to her. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 27, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Floydada Cemetery in Floydada, TX. Pallbearers will be Troy Newell, Kent Newell, Dr. Paul Lambert, Brett Lambert and Sen. Kent Cravens. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, February 25, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix NE, 87110.
