LAUSER -- Kent E. Lauser, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 11, 2004. Kent grew up in Wilton Jct., Iowa. As a young man, he helped build the Clarksville Dam on the Mississippi River with the CCC. He joined the Army Air Corps during WWII and, while stationed at KAFB, met his wife, Marta. They raised their five children in Albuquerque's North Valley. Kent worked for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1973. He then built a unique, beautiful house in Ponderosa, NM, living there with Marta from 1981 until recently. Kent was a loving, generous family man whose life was characterized by hard work, faithfulness, goodness, honesty and unselfish, practical service to others. He loved to sing and had a wonderful sense of humor. A longtime member of Harwood Methodist Church, he faithfully sang in the choir for over thirty years. After moving to Ponderosa, Kent was active in community affairs, serving as president of the Ponderosa Community Water Board for over ten years. He enjoyed working and fishing outdoors, artistic painting, and was a resourceful handyman, inventing creative solutions to "fixer-upper" problems. Kent is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marta; sisters, Harriet Jensen and Miriam Sanson; children, Kenna del Sol, Linda Hunter and Don Lauser; grandchildren, Tony Jarvis, Markom and Ariel Jones, Ohnah Brown, Jedediah and Austin Holler; and great-grandchildren, Akira and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his children, Sue and Francis Dean Lauser. A Memorial Service and reception will be held Friday, January 16, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Jemez Valley Baptist Church, 8294 NM Hwy. 4, Canon, NM. Go north on Hwy.4, 8.1 mi. from the San Ysidro turnoff from Hwy. 550. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the ARCA Foundation, 11300 Lomas Blvd. NE 87112, in honor of Kent's faithful love for his daughter, Sue.
