JANOVEK -- Elsie Janovek, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 29 years, and came to New Mexico from the Island of Trinidad, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2003. Elsie was born December 15, 1906 on the island of Trinidad. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Elsie had been a seamstress, purchasing agent, homemaker, gourmet chef, and dear friend to those around her. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Vendilin Janovek; and her two sisters, Lillian Harris, and Albertina Foxwell in May of 2003; brothers, George, William, Eugene, and Edgar Harris. She is survived by two nieces, Geraldine A. Dougherty and husband, Tom, and Marjorie A. Robinson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris. She will be dearly missed by close friends, Pauline, Mel, Keith, and Todd Eisenstadt. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00 a.m., today, Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho.
