Vigil -- Gloria Ann Vigil, passed away on Friday, March 27th, surrounded by her loved ones after having a series of strokes, and fighting a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Dennis Vigil. She is survived by her mother and father, Ben and Manuelita Garcia; her three children, son, Vince Vigil and wife, April; daughter, Tracey Vigil and Shari Montoya, and son, Dennis Vigil and wife, Anna; her grandchildren, Aja and Vinny Vigil; sister, Mary Romero and husband, Richard; brother, Ben Garcia and wife, Marijon; sister, Esther Alderete and husband, Pete; for nieces; five nephews; along with numerous other family and friends. She was born in Artesia, NM on February 27th and later moved to Albuquerque, graduated from Albuquerque High School and married her high school Sweetheart Dennis Vigil. She was involved with the foster-care program, and helped raise four foster children. Throughout her adult life, her own children and family became and remained the focal point in her life. Gloria loved to cook, especially for others and enjoyed great food. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping for her family and for herself. She also loved to travel, especially to California to shop. She was an employee at Presbyterian Hospital when she became ill. Gloria, we cherished every moment we were blessed with you. You touched our hearts and souls with you love, and showed us the meaning of courage. We lost a wonderful person, but God is gaining a beautiful Soul. Rosary will be at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE on Monday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m., and a Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m., with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Rick Romero, Adrian Romero, Brian Garcia, Mario Alderete, Rueben Alderete, and family friend, Bryan Clark. Burial arrangements will be by Direct Services, 343-8008, 4501 4th NW.
