Black -- Billie Jayne Sparks Black, 70, died Friday, March 6, 1998, in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born July 30, 1927, in Ennis, Texas, the youngest of eight children of John Williams and Lillie Eliza Jane Sparks. She is survived by her husband, Carl Lee Black II of Rio Rancho; and her children, Lola Jane Ulrich of Austin, TX, John Ulrich IV of Bloomfield Hills, MI, B. Ellis French of Allen, TX, Carla Jayne Black McCown of Pflugerville, TX, and William Carl Lee Black of Rio Rancho. She also leaves two step-children, Pamela Ann Black Francis and Carl Lee (Trey) Black III of Tucson, AZ. She also leaves nine grandchildren. Mrs. Black was a gregarious, beautiful woman who never met a stranger. She was known for making friends feel like family. She was an extremely gifted pianist who played professionally and various churches. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The Rev. Dr. Roger Paynter of First Baptist Church of Austin will officiate at graveside services, which will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Austin Memorial Park in Austin, TX. Arrangements are being handled by Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
