Scott -- Lorita"Rita" E. Scott, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Wednesday, October 20, 1999, after a courageous battle against breast cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, William Scott, Jr. of the family home; daughter, Andrea Scott of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Marc Scott and wife, Brigette of Nashville, TN and Michael Scott and wife, Rachel of Rio Rancho; three granddaughters who were the light of her life, Jordan, Jazzmine and Madison; parents, Albert and Conseulo Curley of Junction City, KS; brother, Albert Curley, II of Reston, VA; very loving friend (sister), Laura Henderson-Long of Albuquerque, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends. Rita was a member of Phillips Chapel. She was a registered nurse for 36 years, and for 20 of those years she was employed at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. Rita was the Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care Unit at Lovelace for many years before taking a position with the Center for Disease Control Vietnam Veterans' (Agent Orange) Study, during which time she touched the lives of thousands of Vietnam veterans. Rita also worked at Lovelace Scientific Resources and was the Director of Member Services for the Lovelace Health Plan. While at Lovelace, she established the Lovelace Nurse Hotline, one of the first nurse advice phone services in New Mexico. In the last year, Rita was a consultant to the Presbyterian Health Plan in the area of member services. She was active in numerous community programs and professional organizations. Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 608 Avenida Ceasar Chavez SE, with pastor William Dorn, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marc Scott, Michael Scott, Albert Curley II, Jimmy Meigs, Gene Halton, and Abel Valdez, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie James, Van Sanders, James Williams, Herman Norwood, Charles Dunbar, and Leon Ward. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Phillips Chapel C.M.E, c/o Lorita E.
