Dickson -- Ruth Roebuck Dickson celebrated her 100th Birthday on July 23, 1998. She passed away on February 19, 1999. Ruth and her late husband, John Graham Dickson, moved to Corrales in 1960 and occupied a small house on the property of their only daughter and son-in-law. During her early years in Corrales, Ruth worked with Kay Witherspoon and Ruth Owens at the original Corrales Library and received a certificate for her work from Ann Dunlap, former Mayor of Corrales. Since 1993, Ruth has resided at a Rio Rancho nursing home where she made many friends. Her 100th birthday was celebrated by a visit from her nephew, Richard Boyer and his two daughters, all from Columbia City, Indiana, and her local family. She is survived by her daughter, Bette Casteel and son-in-law, Robert E. Casteel, grandson, Douglas Casteel, great-grandson, Dustin Casteel, and a sister, Helen Myers of Columbia City, Indiana, and Vicki and Mike Vehar, and one niece, Mrs. Charles Stevens and family; nephews, Frank Myers and family, Robert Boyer and wife, and Richard Boyer and family; a nephew, Jack Tallett and daughters in California and a niece, Joan Cook and family in Lake Forest, Illinois. Sisters, Gene Boyer, Mary Pollite, Martha Schoff and Melba Parker of Indiana, and one brother, Ronald Paine Roebuck, late of Roswell, NM, preceded her in death. Ruth remained alert, intelligent and ever"feisty." She took pride in what her father said of her,"Small, but oh my." She will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place and her ashes have been placed in the plot next to her husband, John. A Celebration of Ruth's life will be held in the summer.
