Picoult -- Charles Picoult, age 91, a resident of McAlester, Oklahoma, died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at a local nursing home. Charles was born on August 31, 1907 in Paris, France to Solomon and Molly Schoenberg Picoult. He married Mariam Dorene Robbins on August 19, 1940 in Jefferson City, Missouri and they lived in Littleton, Colorado for 20 years and Albuquerque, New Mexico for 20 years. They came to McAlester in December of 1995 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Charles was a self-employed paint contractor and retired when he was in his 80's. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge #6 of Albuquerque. He was an active Shriner in the Ballut Abyad Temple of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a member of the Scottish Rite, Centennial Lodge of Perfection, Denver Consistory. He was of the Jewish faith and was a founding member of Congregation Albert in Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mariam Picoult on August 21, 1998, four brothers, Ben Picoult, Joe Picoult, Jack Picoult and Al Picoult and sister, Rose Schklair. He is survived by daughter, Paulette Picoult of McAlester, Oklahoma; two sons, Gregory Picoult and wife, Karen of Solon, Ohio, Harris Picoult and wife, Denie of Portland, Oregon; brother, Stanley Picoult and wife, Anja of Rockville, Maryland; two sisters, Adel Ross and husband, Jerry of Las Vegas, Nevada, Celia Scileppi of Kernersville, North Carolina; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, with Rabbi Joseph Black officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to McAlester Hospice. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, in charge of arrangements.
