Romero -- Manuel"Indio" Romero Sr., 64, beloved and devoted father, grandfather and brother, was called home to be with the Lord, February 16, 1999. He was born May 23, 1934 in Los Lunas, NM. Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his parents, Doroteo and Senida Romero; and a son, Ricardo Romero. He is survived by two sons, Manuel Romero Jr. and wife, Kathleen, Henry Romero and wife, Tina; two step-sons, David Gallegos and Herman Gallegos, all of Albuquerque; four daughters, Maria Soila Herrera and husband, Miguel of Albuquerque, Patricia Estrada and husband, Ruben of Long Beach, CA, Yolanda Solano and husband, Skip of Rio Rancho, Connie Barraza and husband, Gabriel; two step-daughters, Margaret Gallegos, Lucille Montano and husband, Louis, all of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Grace Ulibarri and husband, Jose, Josie Marquez and husband, Victorio, Betty Aritaga and Carmen Najera and husband, Jessie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held this evening, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary on the corner of 8th Street and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be Dominic Solano, Mark Solano, Lawrence Romero, David Ulibarri, Rudy Romero, and Steve Segura. Honorary bearers will be Ruben Barraza, Joseph Barraza, Gabriel Barraza, Johnny Romero, Robert Martinez and Chris Romero. For floral assistance, please call 243-5222.
