Baca -- Mrs. Josefita G. Baca, 84, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, affectionately known to everyone as"Nana Baca", passed into our Lord's loving embrace on August 26, 1999. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren when she passed over. Nana Baca was a woman of great faith who overcame many obstacles in her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren adored her and showered her with love and affection. She led by example. She asked for very little and gave everything to those she loved. All her family sought her advice and blessings on a daily basis. She was born on August 16, 1915 in Las Nutrias, New Mexico to Pablo Gonzales and Rupertita Apodaca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro G. Baca; her father, Pablo Gonzales and step-mother, Isabelita Gonzales. Mrs. Baca is survived by her 11 children, Santos and Mary Baca, Ben and Margaret Baca, Rupe Romero and companion, Ernest Mora, Robert and Virginia Baca, Joe"Lelo" and Barbara Baca, Jenny and Mike Mirabal, Paul and Isabel Baca, Patsy and Clovis Apodaca, Maxine and Rudy Mora, Chris and Jeanette Baca and Isaac and Yvonne Baca; 42 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Felipe Gonzales and wife, Bea; five sisters, Edith Aragon, Georgia Chavez and husband, Gene, Rose Costales and husband, Nestor, Bernice Costales and husband, Billy and Lala Gonzales. A Rosary was recited Friday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. Final visitation will be Saturday morning, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., in the Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Jack, Celebrant. Eulogies will be delivered by grandsons, Leroy and Marcos Baca. Interment will follow in the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Santos Baca Jr., Ben Baca Jr., Joey Romero Jr., Dennis Baca, Pete Baca III and Michael Mirabal Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Baca, Patrick Apodaca, Pete Mora, Marcos Baca and Cecilia McAfee. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, in charge of arrangements.
