Chavez -- James"Bito" Chavez, 68, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 2, 1999. He was born on December 8, 1930 in Albuquerque, NM, to Juan and Julia Chavez; he was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; he was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary's High School; he was a star basketball player in High School under Coach Babe Parrentti; Mr. Chavez retired as a Composites Fabricator from General Electric. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Bessie Chavez of the family home; sons, Randy Chavez, Kenneth Mark Chavez and wife, Marian, Adam Chavez and wife, Maria, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Cynthia Candelaria, and Susan R. Chavez Lopez both of Albuquerque; two brothers, Robert Chavez and wife, Della, Pat Chavez and wife, Susan, David Lee Chavez and wife, Viola, both of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Chavez and wife, Della, Pat Chavez and wife, Susan David Lee Chavez and wife, Viola; sisters, Priscilla Torres and Bernadine Chavez; and his mother-in-law, Ricarlda Maez, also of Albuquerque. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Randy Chavez Jr., Isaac Candelaria, Kenneth Mark Chavez Jr., Ray Lopez, Pat Chavez, David Chavez and Honorary Bearers will be Robert Chavez, and God-Daughter, Tamara Herrera. Services are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., S.W.
