Gill -- Jack Gill, Lt. Col. (Ret.), USAF, 80, an Albuquerque resident since 1960, died Saturday, July 17, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Fran Gill of Albuquerque; sister, Marjorie Thompson of Canfield, OH; son, Fred Gill and wife, Marge of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alan Gill of Albuquerque, David Gill, Christopher Gill and Aaron Gill, all of Rio Rancho; three great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Deanna Gill of Rio Rancho. Col. Gill graduated from South High School in Youngstown, OH. he attended Tri-State College in Angola, IN, where he received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1940. He later received a BS degree in Law Enforcement from Metro State College in Denver, CO in 1976. He retired from the US Air Force in 1965 at Sandia Base after 25 years of service. During his military career, he served in the US Army during WWII. Following WWII, he was placed in reserve status until 1950 when he was recalled to active duty in the US Air Force. He served in the Air Force in the aircraft maintenance and nuclear ordinance fields. After his retirement from the Air Force, he entered US Civil Service as a law enforcement officer, policing federal property, retiring in 1983. Mr. Gill was a Master Mason and member of Argus Lodge, A.F.&A.M. in Canfield, OH since 1946. He was member of Scottish Rite Masonry, Valley of Orient in Santa Fe, NM, and the Ballut Abyud Shrine Temple, Albuquerque, NM, 1979. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment of the cremains will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children Hospital Transportation Fund, 6600 Zuni SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
