Baca -- Mr. Santiago M. Baca, born September 22, 1921, died Monday, July 19, 1999 in Albuquerque at the age of 77. Mr. Baca was the owner of Rosie's Hamburger Stand. He is survived by his wife, Rose Baca; two sons, Vincent Baca and Elsie, and Robert Baca and Barbara; daughter, Elena Baca; five grandsons; two great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; one brother, Richard Baca and Corina; one sister, Julia Garcia and Mike; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Fikani -- Dorothy M. Fikani, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Friday, July 16, 1999. She is survived by her son, Michael M. Fikani of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Maxine Fouch of Albuquerque and Kathryn Benham of El Paso, TX; brother-in-law, Dudley Perrett of Clayton; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fikani was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Fikani. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Fikani worked at the Alvarado Hotel. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #401. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Rev. Lemuel M. Boyles officiating. Pallbearers will be Donald Fouch, Bill Fouch, Forrest Fouch, Clint Reed, Larry Sievers and Mike Gleason. Gideon -- Claud L. Gideon left this world to be with his Lord on July 17, 1999. He was born on March 25, 1923 to Claud Lee and Della Burns Gideon on the family farm, six miles south of Hollis, OK. He attended the local country school where he had a perfect attendance record in both grade school and high school. In August of 1942, Claud Jr. enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 3 1/2 years in the Pacific. After his discharge in December of 1945, he enrolled at Oklahoma A&M College where he earned a B.S. degree in Agriculture. While at college, he participated in the R.O.T.C. program and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve resulting in his being called up to serve in the Korean Conflict. After returning to New Mexico from Korea, Claud Jr. went to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration. During the 1950's he worked for the International Development Services in Guatemala. After Guatemala, he worked for the F.H.A. until he retired. Mr. Gideon is survived by his former wife, Frances; daughters, Marjorie Olson of Oklahoma City, OK and Beverly Cormier of Grand Junction, CO; son, Robert; brother, Joe, both of Albuquerque; sister, Joy West of Pawtucket, RI; brothers, Jim and Jerry of Springdale and Prairie Grove, AK; and granddaughters, Allison and Julie Cormier and Samantha and Melonie Olson. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Gill -- Jack Gill, Lt. Col. (Ret.), USAF, 80, an Albuquerque resident since 1960, died Saturday, July 17, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Fran Gill of Albuquerque; sister, Marjorie Thompson of Canfield, OH; son, Fred Gill and wife, Marge of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alan Gill of Albuquerque, David Gill, Christopher Gill and Aaron Gill, all of Rio Rancho; three great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Deanna Gill of Rio Rancho. Col. Gill graduated from South High School in Youngstown, OH. he attended Tri-State College in Angola, IN, where he received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1940. He later received a BS degree in Law Enforcement from Metro State College in Denver, CO in 1976. He retired from the US Air Force in 1965 at Sandia Base after 25 years of service. During his military career, he served in the US Army during WWII. Following WWII, he was placed in reserve status until 1950 when he was recalled to active duty in the US Air Force. He served in the Air Force in the aircraft maintenance and nuclear ordinance fields. After his retirement from the Air Force, he entered US Civil Service as a law enforcement officer, policing federal property, retiring in 1983. Mr. Gill was a Master Mason and member of Argus Lodge, A.F.&A.M. in Canfield, OH since 1946. He was member of Scottish Rite Masonry, Valley of Orient in Santa Fe, NM, and the Ballut Abyud Shrine Temple, Albuquerque, NM, 1979. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Hansen -- Eugene Laurence Hansen of Corrales, was born May 14, 1920 in Lake City, MN. He was the son of Emmanuel Schuneaman Hansen and Mary Adeline Isabel Crusoe. He passed away at his home peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 1999 at age 79 year, two months. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE. Herrera -- Bailon Herrera, 74, a resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 1999. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Church of Belen. He was a retired teacher and principal for the Espanola Public Schools for 37 years, retiring after many years of outstanding service. Bailon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Elva in 1986; his sisters, Tila, Mary, and Francis Ortiz; two brothers, Joe and Jake Herrera. He is survived by his two loving sons, John and his wife, Linda of Albuquerque, Eddie and his wife, Mary Lou of Los Chavez; one daughter, Evelyn McClarie and her husband, Mark of Highlands Ranch, CO; eight grandchildren, Pamela, Adrian, Diego, Venessa, Isaiah, Elese, John, and Erin; two brothers, Gilbert and his wife, Duvie of Albuquerque and Diego and his wife, Edith of Espanola. Bailon is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Litwin -- Neal E. Litwin, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 20 years, died on Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Mr. Litwin was born on May 8, 1924, in Connecticut. He was a pilot during World War II, and the Korean Conflict. A graduate of Aviation Cadet School at a young age, he earned the respect of his peers for his dedication to his country, and to his learning of the art of flying. During the Korean Conflict, he continued his aviation career qualifying to fly the latest jet aircraft. After his active flying career ended, he established a distinguished career in the furniture industry as a buyer and merchandiser for several of the leading furniture retailers in the country. He retired from American Furniture Company, Inc. in Albuquerque in 1992. Neal touched many lives during his life. He told wonderful and entertaining recaps of his life and the people in it. His sense of humor was unique as was his life. A true friend and businessman, he is and will be missed. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Thursday, July 22, 1999, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary-Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Madrid -- Barbara Madrid, age, 69, born on July 29, 1929, passed away July 14, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo Madrid and Teresita. Barbara is survived by two sons, Steven Garcia and Ruben Saiz; two daughters, Priscilla Sanchez and husband, Lornezo, and Emily Garcia-Madrid and husband, Primitivo (Tivo); eight grandchildren; three brothers, Amadito Armijo and wife, Jenny, Manuel Armijo and wife, Donna, Eddie Madrid and wife, Yolanda; two sisters, Sadie McGinnis, Cristela Martinez and husband, Charlie, all of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. She also had many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly. Barbara loved playing the guitar, singing, collecting sad faced clowns, dolls, shopping, going to the casino, and the airport to see the airplanes land and watching the show Jeopardy. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited today at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Marquez -- L. Faye (Card) Marquez, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of El Paso, Texas, died on Saturday, July 17, 1999 at her home. She was born on January 15, 1955 in Wurtzberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Wm. R. and Lois F. (Wilson) Card, her mother survives. While living in El Paso she was a loan officer for Government Employees Credit Union, most recently she was branch manager for Finance Center Federal Credit Union in Greenfield, Indiana. A Memorial service was held on Monday, July 19, 1999 at Carmel United Methodist Church in Carmel, IN, where she attended. Memorial contributions can be made to the United Way or the American Cancer Society. Other survivors include her children, Vanessa and Eli Marquez, both of Albuquerque; brothers, Mitch Card of El Paso, TX, Paul Card of Phoenix, AZ, and William J. Pierson -- Walter L. Pierson, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Sunday, July 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Liza"Nadine" Pierson; sons, Rick Pierson of Albuquerque and Thomas L. Pierson of Springfield, OH; daughter, Peggy L. Pierson of South Solan, OH; grandchildren, Travis Pierson and Micah Pierson, all of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Natalie Ann; and sister-in-law, Ruby Pierson of Springfield, OH. Mr. Pierson served in the Army during World War II in the 8th infantry division. He was a Combat Infantry Sharpshooter, and was awarded the Purple Heart with the 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, and two bronze stars. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1963. Mr. Pierson worked in the Planning department at the City of Albuquerque for a number of years. Rael -- Tieyerra Rael, 12, a lifetime resident of the Grants/Milan area, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 1999, after a lengthy illness. She enjoyed listening to music, cheerleading, going to church, and spending quality time with family and friends. Tieyerra was preceded in death by her grandfather, Nick Garcia; her aunt, Kathy Holm; her uncle, Tommy Rael; and her cousin, Joseph Lopez. She is survived by her mother, Nanette Holm and step-father, Jaime Tigges of Albuquerque; her father, Johnny (Michael) Rael; her half-sister, Ruby Rael; her grandparents, Nancy Lankard and Julio Sisneros of Milan, Ermenia Chavez of Santa Fe, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Rael of Milan; her God parents, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Rael of Milan; her aunts, Nikki Holm, Diane Sanchez; and many more special relatives, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors. A Christian service and viewing was held Friday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m., and a Memorial service took place on July 17, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the Temple of Peace Church, followed by Burial at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Michael Cardigan, Loren Antonio, Jose Rael, Jesus Rael, Alicia Rael and Christina Pereda. Sanchez -- Savina (Sally) Sanchez went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 1999. Sally was born July 5, 1911, the daughter of Sinforoza and Federico Lovato Padilla in Raton, New Mexico. She had worked hard all her life in places such as the Bruns Military Hospital during WWII and St. Vincents Hospital, and several nursing homes. In her later years, she was a proud Foster Grandparent in the Albuquerque Public Schools and at UNMH. She was a devoted mother and Christian who loved the Lord dearly. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lazaro Martinez and her second husband, Jose Sanchez; her beloved son, Thomas Robert Martinez; brothers, Elmo J. Lovato and Tony Lovato and his wife, Lonicia; sisters, Rebecca (Dide) Martinez and Mary Lucrecia Brazelli; also two sons-in-law, Juan Dominguez and Rev. Frank Archuleta Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Dominguez, Rev. Connie Archuleta, Rebecca Lippke and husband, Mike; son, Lazaro (Pispo) Martinez and wife, Grace; and daughter-in-law, Maria Leoneda Martinez; 16 grandchildren, Robert John Montoya and wife, Michelle, Angie Martinez and husband, Rick, Sam Montoya and wife, Theresa, Rose and Johanna Dominguez, Maria Elena Martinez Grisham and husband, Brian, Debra Janet (DJ) Martinez, Annette Martinez, Michael Allen and David Lippke, Christina Hansen and husband, Jeff, Vivian Archuleta Rodriguez, Rev. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren, Roberta Montoya Shaw and husband, Bobby, Jasmine and Jessica Montoya, Cindy Gallegos and husband, Dean, Denise Corriz, Monica, Samantha, Samone and Juanito Montoya, Daniel Salas and Sally Dominguez, (her name sake), Aaron, Shane, and Brandon Grisham, Elizabeth and Emiliana Krista, Elycia Martinez-Davis, Maghan, Heather, Jeffery and Ema Hanson, Connie and husband, Jonathan Jimenez, Stefanie, Frankie the third, Emily, Brandon, Tomas Jr., and Jonathan Archuleta, Dominic and Matthew Martinez; three great-great-grandchildren, Bobbi Meriah Shaw, Victoria Montoya, and Jonathan Jimenez Jr.; and two sisters, Odella Lovato and Rosie Sullivan; and her beloved sister-in-law, Maclovia Lovato. Further survivors include many special friends and relatives. A special nephew, Tony (Pancho) Lovato and wife, Alice, who helped her with many of her needs in later years. Sandlin -- Edgar Alvin Sandlin, a resident of White Rock, NM, died early Sunday morning, July 18, 1999. He was born to Ira and Francis Sandlin on April 29, 1933 in Modena, Missouri. He was a graduate of the original Albuquerque High School in 1951. Ed served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Gilmore, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion. As a construction engineer for the United States Government, he retired from Los Alamos National Laboratories after 23 years of service. Ed's loved ones and friends knew well of his love for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He would take long rides on his Harley and often attended rallies. Ed had an affinity for collecting and crafting all types of frogs. He could frequently be found in his front yard eating ice cream with the neighborhood kids and displaying his frog collection. Ed will be dearly missed and always remembered by those whose lives he touched. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa; their daughter, Debbie; and"dawg" Harley; his other children, Carole Sullivan and husband, Danny, Daniel Sandlin and wife, Julie, Shirley Sandlin-Tucker and husband, Tom, Melodee Bero and husband, Dan; his aunt, Lottie Callen from Missouri, and aunt, Pricia Paulkovich of Maryland, aunt, Bea Tallent from Virginia, Aunt Esther Vaughn from California; his six grandchildren are Kristopher Phillip, and Kenneth Bero, Sara Lashea Sullivan, Ian and Eric Sandlin. His is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 20, 5:00 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 21, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Spurgeon -- Helen Annette Spurgeon, 80, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1987, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 1999. Helen was born January 3, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Estella Oyler Steele in Mansfield, Ohio. Helen is survived by her husband, James C. Spurgeon of Rio Rancho; children, Judy Smith of Burbank, CA and Dr. Gerald Lesniak of Billingham, WA; grandchildren, Terri McLaughlin and George Smith; one great-granddaughter, Jessica McLaughlin; step-children, Thomas E. Spurgeon and wife, Darlene of Dublin, OH, Nancy Whitman and husband, Thomas of Doylestown, OH, James (Bill) Spurgeon and wife, Judy of San Marcos, CA, and Marilyn J. Wilder and husband, Walter of Kettering, OH; two sisters, Jane Murray of Fresno, CA and Kathryn Kepler and husband, Bob of Fountain Hills, AZ. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a devoted homemaker. Trujillo -- Donicio (Don) Trujillo was called home by the Lord on July 18, 1999. Mr. Trujillo was born in Cabezon, NM on February 16, 1936 to Leonard Trujillo and Isidora Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ignacio Trujillo and Fermine Trujillo. He is survived by one son, Don Trujillo Jr. and family of Farmington, NM; one daughter, Abbey Pate and family of Wyoming; seven grandchildren; step-mother, Simona Trujillo; three brothers, Lee Trujillo, Gilbert Trujillo, Joe Trujillo; 12 sisters, Irene Santestevan, Virginia Macias, Josie Almanza, Sophie Martinez, Ignacia Saiz, Mary Ross, Priscilla Sena, Isabel Romero, Gloria Rubalcaba, Betty Molina, Emily Zapata, Alfie Montoya; and many nephews and nieces whom were very close and loved him alot. Visitations will be held at the chapel of Alameda Mortuary, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., today. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Waddles -- Jesse Owen Waddles, Jr., age 49, and a native resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 1999. Mr. Waddles was born June 30, 1950. Ward -- Sandra Kay Ward was born on May 23, 1945 to Carl and Rose Mary Chester. She went home to Glory on July 14, 1999. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Carl E.
