Sanchez -- Manuel Rito Sanchez, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 6, 1999. Mr. Sanchez was born on March 9, 1919 in Manzano, NM to Teodoro and Juanita Sanchez; he was a parishioner and usher of Holy Family Catholic Church; he served his Country during World War II in the United States Army; he was a Life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and retired from Sandia Labs. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jerry Sanchez. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Lucy Montano Sanchez of the family home; sons, Leroy Sanchez and wife, Frances, Ernest Sanchez and wife, Victoria, Bill Sanchez and wife, Antoinette; daughters, Lupe Gutierrez and husband, Rick, Anna Sanchez; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Sanchez. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be this evening from 6:00 p.m. till the time of rosary, which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th Street and Iron. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Reverend Jack Clark Robinson as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Casket bearers will be Manuel Sanchez, Miguel Martinez, Francisco Martinez, Richard Johnson, Aaron Sanchez and Sherry Gutierrez. Funeral services are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., S.W., 243-5222.
