Stevens -- Robert Louis Stevens, age 65, passed away on June 13, 1999. He was born to Roger Louis Stevens and Jennie Hurley on March 21, 1934 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stevens; sons, Scott of Denver, CO, Bill Payne of Belen, Roger Payne of Bernalillo, and Frank Payne of Albuquerque; daughter, Kelly of Denver, CO; one brother, Jay from Denver, CO; five grandchildren and several nephews. Mr. Stevens had lived in Bernalillo for 17 years. He and his wife had a home daycare center for ten years and they cared for over 75 children that the Stevens family considered theirs. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in USMC. Funeral services will be held today, June 16, 1999, at the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Denlea officiating. Entombment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Arrangements under the care of Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 891-9192.
