Gallegos -- Rosary services will be recited Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico for Jose D. Gallegos, 88. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. The Dilia native died Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in Albuquerque. Mr. Gallegos, a gardener and chile ristra maker most of his life, was born in Dilia July 17, 1910 to Abran Gallegos and Tomasita Gallegos. He was united in marriage to Flora M. Gallegos in 1935 in Albuquerque. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, as well as a member of Sacred Heart Church in Dilia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Gallegos; daughter, Lucy Montoya; mother, Tomasita Gallegos; father, Abran Gallegos; a brother, Kenneth Gallegos; and a sister, Margaret Mastas. He is survived by his son, Manuel Gallegos of Las Cruces, Pat Gallegos and wife, Marilyn, Henry Gallegos and wife, Helen, Ernie Montoya and wife, Henrietta and daughter-in-law, Melicia Gallegos, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by six sisters, Tillie Rael of Lafayette, CA, Sophia Zarate, Mary Quayle, Emma Keller, Annie Trujillo, Josephine Rivera; two brothers, Anthony Gallegos and Tom Gallegos, all of Colorado; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Leroy Gallegos, Michael Gallegos, Chris Gallegos, Hankie Gallegos, Dominic Montoya, and Adam Gallegos.
