Arvizo -- Bertha Arvizo, 57, passed away Thursday, May 6, 1999 at her home in Datil, NM. She was born September 20, 1941 to Delfido and Elvira Jaramillo DeLao in Aragon, NM. She is survived by her husband, Manuel Arvizo; her father, Delfido DeLao of Horse Springs, NM; children, Daniel DeLao of Albuquerque, Manuel Arvizo Jr. of Datil, NM, Elvira DeLao of Albuquerque, Suzy Gurule of Los Lunas, Yolanda Marquez and Alice Chavez, both of Albuquerque; brothers, Johnny DeLao of Reserve, NM, Robert DeLao of Springerville, AZ and Steve DeLao of Oklahoma; sisters, Gloria Ray of Texas, Theresa Pierce of Reno, NV, Lorenza DeLao of Silver City, NM, Linda Aragon of Reserve and Elisa Aragon of Horse Springs, NM; eight grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was a beloved mother, loving wife and endearing grandmother. Services were held Monday, May 10, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at the home of Delfido DeLao in Horse Springs, NM with Deacon Juan Aragon officiating. Interment will be in the Horse Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are Johnny DeLao, Robert DeLao, Steve DeLao, Donny Aragon, George Mastenbrook, Joshua Arvizo, Richard Marquez and Peter Chavez. Ayon -- Mrs. Emma Ayon, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 12, 1999. Mrs. Ayon was the beloved wife of 27 years to Mr. John Ayon. She is also survived by five daughters, Rachel Vital, Julia Ann Gonzales, Cathy Marie Halliday and husband, Stephen, Dolores Jean Davalos and husband, James and Sharon Roseann Rubio; three sons, Eloy Anthony Gonzales and wife, Debra, Patrick Robert Gonzales and Dennis Andrew Gonzales; step-children, Alexandra A. Bravo and Richard Ayon; several beloved brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Ayon was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited by the Legion of Mary on Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m., at the Church of the Ascension with final visitation at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Anthony Bolman, Celebrant. Brown -- Mary Leona Brown, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 in a local hospital following an illness. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, James Buster Brown of Albuquerque; one brother, John Childs and his wife, Martha of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marguerite Wetherbe. Mrs. Brown was a member of First United Methodist Church. She retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1980 after having taught for 34 years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE.

Chinisci -- Henry (Hank) A. Chinisci, 76, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on May 13, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer. Hank was born March 16, 1923 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Sam and Josephine (Cascio) Chinisci. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Michael's High School. He served in Italy as part of the 5th Army during WWII. After the war he moved to Albuquerque and started the Chinisci School of Music while attending St. Joseph's College. Hank enriched the lives of many Albuquerque area children by teaching them to play music. He was a member of the local musician's union and the New Mexico Music Teacher's Association. Hank also played music professionally with many local groups, including the Four Keys in which he and his three sons played for many weddings, parties and official functions. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Josephine. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 15 years; his sister, Patricia and her husband, Stan and their family; sons, Robert and his wife, Michelle of Denver, Richard and his wife, Georgia and granddaughters, Gia and Dana of Denver, and Frank and his wife, Gigi and grandchildren, David, Ben and Susie of Albuquerque. Hank will best be remembered as a good friend, a loving father and grandfather. A chapel service for Hank will be held on Monday, May 17, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with The Rev. R. Dulaney Barrett. A private interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kiwanis Club Charitable Foundation, Kamp Kiwanis, 7716 Northridge Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Gallegos -- Rosary services will be recited Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico for Jose D. Gallegos, 88. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. The Dilia native died Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in Albuquerque. Mr. Gallegos, a gardener and chile ristra maker most of his life, was born in Dilia July 17, 1910 to Abran Gallegos and Tomasita Gallegos. He was united in marriage to Flora M. Gallegos in 1935 in Albuquerque. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, as well as a member of Sacred Heart Church in Dilia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Gallegos; daughter, Lucy Montoya; mother, Tomasita Gallegos; father, Abran Gallegos; a brother, Kenneth Gallegos; and a sister, Margaret Mastas. He is survived by his son, Manuel Gallegos of Las Cruces, Pat Gallegos and wife, Marilyn, Henry Gallegos and wife, Helen, Ernie Montoya and wife, Henrietta and daughter-in-law, Melicia Gallegos, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by six sisters, Tillie Rael of Lafayette, CA, Sophia Zarate, Mary Quayle, Emma Keller, Annie Trujillo, Josephine Rivera; two brothers, Anthony Gallegos and Tom Gallegos, all of Colorado; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Gibbon -- Mary G. Gibbon, 99, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died April 19, 1999 at Trelux Manor Shelter Home where she had been cared for over the past four years. She was a native of Pittsburgh, PA from birth until she moved to Solon, OH in 1975. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's degree in Education (Sciences) and a lifelong member of Tri Delta Sorority, began a teaching career in Biology at Baldwin Whitehall High School where she taught for 25 years. Mrs. Gibbon also taught a Sunday school class at Union Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. For 50 years, beginning when she was 14, and the class is named in her honor. While in Solon, OH she helped organize a Senior Citizens chapter, serving on the steering committee. At the age of 80, Mary taught a class for Senior Citizens in Functional Anatomy at the Elders Campus at Cuyahoga Community College, in Cleveland, OH. While in Albuquerque, Mrs. Gibbon was active in the Palo Duro Senior Center and the Church of the Good Shepherd (United Church of Christ). Until her death, Mary was the oldest living member of that church. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Houldsworth and husband, Howard, of Albuquerque, Mary Lou Waltz and her husband, Donald of Mission Viejo, CA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three step-grandsons and their families. A memorial service will be held for her on Sunday, May 16, 12:00 noon, at the Good Shepherd Church (7834 Tennyson St. NE) the Rev. Stephen S. Halstead, officiating. Inurnment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, OH on June 18th.

Jackson -- Jennie Jackson, 37, of 800 Carlisle SE, died May 12, after surviving to adulthood, a genetic condition usually fatal in childhood, cystic fibrosis. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she grew up on Tributary Farm in West Epping, NH, a homestead granted by King George II in 1713. Since 1983, she had managed the local service office of the international behavioral public relations and management counseling firm, Jackson, Jackson & Wagner, in which she was a partner. A graduate of Berwick Academy, Maine's oldest educational institution founded in 1791, she attended Antioch College, Yellow Springs, O. She was predeceased by her mother, Miriam (Pottle) Jackson, who was on board a Delta Airlines plane which crashed at Boston's Logan Airport on July 31, 1973 in New England's worst air disaster. Jennie is survived by her father, Patrick of Rye, NH; her step-mother, Isobel Parke of Epping, NH; and nine brothers and sisters, Richard Jackson of Ocean Springs, MS, Deborah Wicker of Snellville, GA, Kevin Jackson of Hyde Park, UT, Pamela Sadler of Cotopaxi, CO, John Hiram Pottle of E. Otisfield, ME, Annette Rynerson of Goffstown, NH, Roberta Trefts of Beijing, China and Alexandra and Jeremy Jackson, both of Rye, NH. Also 31 nieces and nephews and four aunts and uncles. A memorial gathering will be held at her home on Friday, May 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Jennings -- Kenneth Jay Jennings, 42, of Bosque Farms, died Monday, May 10, 1999 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kansas. Mr. Jennings had been visiting his father in Junction City. Memorial services for Mr. Jennings will be held at a later date in New Mexico. Mr. Jennings was born to Weldon and Dorothy (Downes) Jennings on April 15, 1957 in Junction City, Kansas. He attended school in Junction City through the 11th grade. He married Antoinette L. Chewiwi on February 13, 1999 in Albuquerque and they made their home in Bosque Farms. Mr. Jennings worked as a Maintenance Foreperson for Wall Colmonoy Corporation of Isleta for 18 years. Mr. Jennings is survived by his father, Weldon Jennings; his wife, Antoinette; a daughter, Deserrai M. Jennings, Albuquerque; a step-son, Joseph R. Baldonado, Bosque Farms; three brothers, Derrill Swearingen, Salina, KS, Harold Jennings, Warnego, KS, and Dale Jennings, Roswell; and a sister, Sharon Jennings, Wichita Falls, TX; four step-brothers, Weldon Sherman, Jack McColley and Timmy McColley of El Paso, TX and Arthur McColley Jr. of Dallas, TX; and four step-sisters, Rhonda Williamson, Junction City, Diana McDonald, Odessa, TX, and Deana Cantu and Jill Mosley of El Paso, TX. Mr. Jennings was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Downes McColley, who died in March of 1999. Mr. Jennings was cremated. Laforest -- Maurice J. LaForest, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ida Giomi LaForest; sister, Pauline A. LaForest; niece, Dr. Thelma A. Giomi; brother-in-law, James Giomi and wife, Esma, all of Albuquerque; sister, Jean Miller; niece, Lori Williams, both of Oakdale, CA; sisters, Gilberta Farnwalt of Shelby, OH and Ann Nelson and husband, Dick of Galion, OH; brothers, Rodger LaForest and wife, Marion of Florida, Pat LaForest and Bob LaForest and wife, Caroline, all of Galion, OH; nephew, Mike Miller and wife, Lorraine of Oakdale, CA; many other nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. LaForest served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for 49 years at Lee Galles Oldsmobile. Mr. LaForest was a member of the Elk's Lodge and a former member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol. He enjoyed square dancing. Mr. LaForest was active at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Linehan -- Patricia Grace Madrid Linehan was born December 23, 1961 at San Pablo Air Base Hospital, Seville, Spain. She was born to Patrocinio and Emma Madrid and was a symbol of their love and union as were her brothers, Gilbert and John, and her sister, Racheal. At the age of 25 years, Patricia met the love of her life, Mr. Sean Fife Linehan of Manchester, New Hampshire. They married November 21, 1986 and Patricia's strong love for family was shared by Sean. On October 4, 1987 Sean and Patricia brought into the world the most beautiful baby boy, Stephan Arthur Linehan. What a love was born that day! Two years later, more love came into their lives as Patricia's and Sean's second child, Alec Brittany was born on November 4, 1990. Alec is the baby girl for which Patricia had always wished. Patricia gave the role of mother new meaning. The love she had for her husband and children made her more beautiful than could ever be imagined. There was a light in her eyes in the presence of her children as Patricia had longed to be a mother and fought to see her children grow up. Throughout life's journey, Patricia made many true friends with her genuine kindness, compassion, generosity and abiding love. This was evident in their strong support and generosity in all they have done for Sean, the children and her family. Her friendship and her culinary skills will be greatly missed. Patricia was a member of St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church and served on the Finance Committee. She was a staff member of Immanuel Lutheran School. Her earlier studies led her to obtain a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her most cherished role, however, was that of wife and mother. She will be remembered with love by the Hernandez family, Andres, Refugio, Carlos, Nellie, Antonia, Genoveva, Frances and Eulalia. The Madrid family, Elfego, Phillip Jr., Lenora, Gilbert, Joe, Arnold and Emma Lee. Grandma Francisca Gonzales and her family, Simon, Abran, Anna, Josie, Eugenia, Rebecca, and Vicenta. The Linehan family adopted Patricia as one of their own and she will be sorely missed by Sean's mother, Mrs. Shirlene Linehan and siblings, Theresa, William, Colleen, Maureen and Timothy as well as many extended family members. Although we will miss Patricia dearly, we are comforted by the knowledge that she has joined her paternal grandparents, Libradita and Felipe Madrid; her maternal grandfather, Jose Mendoza; her niece, Salina Jo Madrid; and her father-in-law, Arthur Francis Linehan. Patricia was a devoted mother, a loving wife and a caring human being who made a difference in this world and the world will be a better place because she was here. God has a new angel in heaven.

Miller -- Kenneth C. Miller, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, died on Friday, April 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Miller of the family home; son, Douglas B. Miller and wife, Linda of Garden City, MI; granddaughters, Chelsea R. Miller and Charla M. Wladysiak and husband, Matthew, all of Garden City, MI; great-grandson, Kyle Douglas Wladysiak of Garden City; MI; sister-in-law, Pauline Haley of Angola, IN; and brother-in-law, John V. Brown of Mobile, AL. Mr. Miller spent 2 1/2 years in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and graduated from Tri State College in Angola, Indiana with an engineering degree. Mr. Miller spent 25 years as a sales representative for Chemcentral Corp. in Romulus, MI. Mortimer -- Forrest Edward Mortimer, 86, a former resident of Denver, CO and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emma Mortimer; two daughters, Carol Simpson and husband, John of Manson, WA, and Patricia Ann Perovich and husband, David, Albuquerque; one sister, Grace Slagle, Greeley, CO; grandchildren, John Simpson III and wife, Myrna, Charles Simpson and wife, Sylvia, Penny McGrath and husband, Doug, Mark Perovich, Davelyn Ireland and husband, Scott, Tony Perovich, Carol Perovich and Kelly Perovich; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Mortimer was a Pioneer of the Mt. Bell Telephone Company in Denver, CO and retired after 31 years of service. He liked people and put everyone he met at ease. He liked to fish and loved the Denver Broncos. Mr. Mortimer and wife, Emma made their home at Vista Del Rio Retirement Community. Poole -- John F. Poole, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 41 years, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Wynn) Poole. John retired from Metropolitan Life in 1985. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY and moved to Albuquerque in 1958. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was a past Grand Knight and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer at UNM Golf Course where he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his children, Andrea Poole and husband, Alex Traube of Santa Fe, John R. Poole of Tucson, AZ, Rochelle E. Howard and husband, Willie, Danette M. Preusser -- Bill Preusser, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past three years, passed away on Monday, May 10, 1999. Bill was born September 24, 1919, the son of Clarence and Madeline Hertzler Preusser in Bloomington, lIlinois. Bill had been an Advertising Account Executive with the Sacramento Bee Newspaper before retiring. He had been Unit Chairman for one year of the Newspaper Guild, served nine years as tournament Director of the Sacramento Press-Radio/TV Golf, he was one of the original organizers of the club. He was a member of the Carmichael Rotary Club for nine years, one year as a Board Director. He served in the US Army during WWII. Bill was preceded in death by one son, Terry Preusser. He is survived by his wife, Muriel of Rio Rancho; four children, Gary Fuller of Albuquerque, Holli Ritchie of Roseville, CA, Randy Preusser of Rio Rancho, Jody Beals of Sacramento, CA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sandoval -- Tomasita Sandoval, a resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Padilla and husband, Jerry; granddaughters, Anita Salas and husband, Gilbert Sr., Kateri Padilla and Mary Denise Vigeant and husband, Jim; grandsons, Kyle Padilla and Tyler Padilla, all of Albuquerque; brother, Aniceto Sandoval of Pueblo, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isidro and Trinidad Sandoval Sr.; brothers, Isidro Jr., Jose, Julian, Ignacio, Petronilo and Juan Sandoval; and sisters, Trinidad Ortiz, Mary Gertrude Sandoval and Terecita Naranjo. Tomasita was a member of the Order of St. Francis from the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows in Las Vegas, NM. She was very active at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church and enjoyed preparing arts and crafts for the San Felipe Church Festival. Tomasita also enjoyed raising children. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 12:00 noon, at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Old Town, with Father Leo Lucero, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Stanfield -- Gaylon Jay Stanfield, 58, of Los Lunas, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in Brandon, Florida. A native of Clovis, NM, she moved to Los Lunas in January 1999 from Brandon, FL. She was a Junior High School math teacher and a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. She is survived by two sons, Don and Richard Stanfield, both of Albuquerque; a daughter, Sherri Frayer of Albuquerque; her mother, June B. Ezell of Brandon, FL; a brother, Glenn T. Ezell of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Glenna Smith of Brandon, FL; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Brandon.
