Cheek-Martin -- Cheek- Frances Cheek-Martin departed this life on January 5, 1999 at her home surrounded by family. Born in Union, South Carolina on July 22, 1942. Moving to New York with her mother, she graduated from Andrew Jackson HS and went on to receive her MBA degree from New York University. Moving to Rio Rancho, NM with her husband, Ernest and daughter, Crystal. She was employed as a Buyer for Sandia National Laboratory. She left Sandia Labs for employment in the private sector. Fran was preceded in death by her only child, Crystal in 1990. She is survived by her husband, Ernest; mother, Pauline Treml; sister, Linda and her husband, Tim; brother, George and his wife, Rebecca; and many nieces and nephews. Fran is deeply loved and will be missed by all. We thank God for having Fran with us for as long as we did. Many thanks to Hospice and their staff for all their care and support and to those who contributed help to the family. God bless you all with the love of Christ. A Memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124, 892-1511. Cremation arrangements are by Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 891-8200.
