Salter -- Carla Lynn Salter, 48, of West Mermod Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at Carlsbad Medical Center, Carlsbad, New Mexico, surrounded by those who loved her the most. Carla was born Sunday, September 2, 19151 to Arthur"Art" Durwood Herring and Verdean Joyce Mears Herring in Carlsbad, where she graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1968. She attended NMSU, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 1991-1995. She received an Associates degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Services. She had lived extensively in Albuquerque and Las Cruces. Her hobbies included sand candles, macrame, painting and drawing with chalks, and oil painting. She also loved poetry. She had attended Oasis Christian Fellowship. She was unique in many ways and will be greatly missed by many. She is survived by her sons, Patrick M. Salter of Austin, TX and Jonathon C. Salter of Carlsbad; parents, Art and Verdean Herring of Carlsbad; brother, Michael W. Herring of Carlsbad; and maternal grandparents, Tony and Vera Hernandez of Carlsbad. Ms. Salter will not lie in state. Cremation has taken place. Private services will be held. For further information about the service contact (505) 628-3485.
