Stromberg -- Thomas Daniel Stromberg, born May 5, 1953, in Albuquerque, died April 17 in a traffic accident in San Mateo, CA. Tom attended St. Pius X High School and the University of New Mexico. Tom developed information management systems for the city of Seattle from 1876 to 1980. Tom and Louise Whiley were married August 25, 1982 in Seattle. From 1980 to 1984 Tom managed a retail conversation project for Seattle First National Bank. From 1984 to 1991, Tom was the technology general manager for Bank of America in San Francisco. As vice-president of information technology of the Gap Inc. from 1991 to 1999, Tom managed information and technology for the Gap during these years of critical growth. Tom was the chief information officer for the Old Navy Division of the Gap. Tom had just started a working group as CIO for Wal-Mart.com to develop their internet retail enterprise. Tom was known for his playful and spirited approach to business and life. Well known to all the children in his neighborhood, Tom was loved for the many adventures and fun he provided to his children and their friends at St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School and at Serra High School. No child was without a playmate if Tom was nearby. His home was always open to friends and visitors and was a constant center of activity, games, sports and play for everyone. Tom is survived by his wife, Louise; his sons, John and Michael; and his daughter, Katherine. Also survived by his parents, Patricia and Robert; sisters, Mary, Ann and Marcella (Albuquerque); brother, Mark (Carmel Valley, CA), Peter and James (Albuquerque), Paul (Portland); and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and John. Funeral will be held on Monday, April 24 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Burlingame at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration of his life to follow at the parish hall. Burial will be in Albuquerque. A children's educational fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank.
